You know those annoying ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ posters? Well those can hit the road, because Stéphane Massa-Bidal is in town. Check out her recent creation, Elvis Songs as web services such as Twitter, Facebook or FFFFOUND. via Design You TrustRead the full story
Two of my favorite acts smash together and become one in this vid. Check out Paramore’s Haley Williams doing a stripped version of Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’.
Last night, I had the pleasure of heading back home to San Diego to watch one of my favorite bands of all time play their final show of the tour. Thanks to Gelly and StubHub.com we ended up in the greatest seats of all time. No one was in front of us, even though we were in row C [note to anyone attending the Cricket Amphitheater, sit in 37 or 38C].
First off, Gwens body was flippin’ amazing. She has two kids, and is almost 40. Un.be.lievable.
The beginning of their show included them doing a small shadow piece behind a huge white curtain.
Here are some shots I took during the show…their background was constantly changing. One of my favorites was when they performed ‘Running’, which had a video montage of their entire career running behind them. It seriously brought me to tears.
Electric Purgatory is a documentary that examines the struggles of black rock musicians and the industry’s ambivalence towards them. Following Cody Chestnutt, Fish Bone, Vernon Reid and many more, it’s definitely a must see.
Back in my younger days, I attended Lollapalooza and it was a blast. For us old fogies, or those of you who just can’t make it out this year, they are offering a free 15 song sampler of some of the acts that will be performing at this years festival.

Remember Cree Summer? Freddie on A Different World? Turns out she has been actively working, doing voice over work for popular kids shows. However, I miss the days of her musical ventures [ahead of her time perhaps?] so here I give you her 1999 single, ‘Curious White Boy’.
It looks like it’s your lucky day, as Kitsune Noir has created some pretty dope RadioHead wallpapers that serve as a timeline leading up to the release of Rainbows.

I was fortunate enough to attend this phenomenal performance by Ms. Janelle Monae at the SkyBar. This was the first stop of my jam packed Grammy weekend in HollyWeird, and hands down, the best show I’ve ever seen. Of course, this footage was taken before Ms. Monae ran back and forth through the crowd, jumped in the pool, did a few laps, came back, baptized herself in Figi water, and then climbed a tree…all in a tuxedo. I think I have a girl crush.
Thank you to Tunji for filming this and hosting it so quickly!
If you are not familiar with Mat Mchugh, take a listen to his music and you will know his life story. A member of the Aussie band, The Beautiful Girls, he has recently released a solo album. Below is the first single from Separatista, hope you enjoy it.
I neeeeeeed these [imagine me saying that in the most desperate, whiny voice possible]. I grew up on the Pixies and Vans, and this union couldn’t be more perfect.
Swedish born Lykke Li was born into an artistic family, her mother was a photographer, father a musician. After growing up all over the world, she landed in New York at 19. Earlier this year, she released her first album, Youth Novels, and it was a hit among music enthusiasts. Something about this chick reminds me of Feist, but I haven’t quite put my finger on it. Regardless, she’s dope. Check out the video for “Little Bit” and if you’re so inclined, pick up the rest of the album while your at it.
