Artist Spotlight: Quadron.

Go ahead and hand me a late pass, but I had never heard of Quadron until I saw them live at the UCLA Jazz Fest last weekend.  Even though the singer, Coco, is only 21 she is already a veteran performer, and was literally born to do it. She was a key figure as the front woman in the live band for Boom clap bachelors’ band, and now she is thrilling audiences with Robin and hers own material. Robin Hannibal has a long CV, counting collaborations with Nobody Beats The Beats, Aloe Blacc, Omas Keith from SA-RA, Wally Badarou from talking heads / level 42, Erick Sermon, Plant Life, Yamwho, Buraka Som Sistema and has international super stars, like Pharrell Williams  and James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), declaring themselves fans of some of his other projects like “Owusu & Hannibal” and “Parallel Dance Ensemble”.

John Mayer is a musical genius.  No, I take that back.  He is just an all around genius that has been put on this Earth to not only entertain, but to make us feel…and let’s not front, he is excellent eye candy. Check out the vid for his new single, ‘Who Says.’

Naturally 7 – Beat Box Band.

One-of-a-kind R&B group Naturally 7 beatboxes an orchestra’s worth of instruments to groove through their smooth single, “Fly Baby.”

Etta James Goes Hard.

She has some resentment [it seems] regarding President Obama inviting Beyonce to sing ‘At Last’ during the Inauguration Ball.

Hope.

If you watch movies or television then I am almost certain you have heard her music, since Hope has been featured in everything from Soul Food , to P.S. I Love You and most recently MTV’s “The City.” However, it isn’t her licensing game that puts her on my radar, rather than her breakthrough self titled album. Drawing inspiration from Sade and a musically inclined family, you can hear her growth in songs. Hope has a way of touching your soul on every track she lays down.

Marsha Ambrosius.

If the name is not familiar to you, the face might be. As one half of the groundbreaking duo known as Floetry, Marsha has recently released a solo Mixtape produced by Focus. Signed to Aftermath, we look forward to what she has in store for us. Her dymanic voice and features from the likes of Little Brother, Busta and the Game have made this mixtape an overnight success. Check out “Sunshine” feat. Little Brother.

Adele: Remixed.

If you are already listening to Adele, then this track needs no preface. You already know that she’s incredibly talented, soulful and kicking down the door in the US. Hailing from the UK, and barely 20 [I tried to tell you guys about these UK ladies!!] her debut album, 19 has topped the charts and now, been remixed into 1988. With features like Big Pooh and Naledge, this is fast becoming one of my favorite albums. Check out “Melt My Heart to Stone” feat. Big Pooh.
