Well, well, well, what do we have here? Could this be the shoe to encourage cats to step their grown man up or are we looking at a complete flop on the market? Cole Haan has teamed up with Nike in this creation of wingtips “on the run”. The shoe is designed in standard wingtip style with the sole of Nike’s Lunar running shoe. If someone would have described this shoe to me I would have immediately been perplexed and disinterested, but these images have my eyes wide open! From the design to the colorway I think this shoe is fly. Pair them with chinos or a slim jean and you will be set.

The LunarGrand Wingtip is set to release February 10th, 2012  at Cole Haan’s SoHo location for $248.00.

With all the many ways to pay to give props to something, Italian designer Filippo Perin, mastered the form of paper design. With the release of the Yeezy 2′s swiftly approaching what better shoe to big-up in the form of art.  Handcrafted to perfection, as always, these designs do the show great justice.

Nike honored the power and unique traditions of the Chinese New Year with the release of the Chinese New Year Air Force 1s “Year of the Horse” in 2002. Ten years later, Nike will release Chinese zodiac-inspired sneakers, the “Year of the Dragon” pack (via Nice Kicks) includes an Air Force 1 Low Supreme, Air Jordan 2012, Kobe VII System Supreme and Zoom KD IV. The “Year of the Dragon” includes four shoes to represent the Chinese dragon riding from the four ancient seas to offer good luck for the new year.

The first release, “Year of the Horse” was white and red and included the character for horse on the tongue and heel tab, a galloping horse on the insole. In the Chinese Zodiac, the horse is considered smart and popular.

The second release in 2003, “Year of the Goat” was an all-white sneaker with orange accents. There was a light icy outsole and an image of a goat. The goat represents calm dependability.

In 2004, The “Year of the Monkey” had a white leather upper with accents in brown, including the character for monkey and image of a monkey on the heel. The monkey is considered to be dignified and self-assured.

The “Year of the Rooster” in 2005 was the most subtle of the line in a simple shade of off white with an off white character of rooster on the heel with a white sole. Roosters are accurate and precise according to the Chinese Zodiac.

Vibrant colors, textures and patterns make “Year of the Dog” the most distinct of the series. With pony hair and colors that bring about memories of Miami Vice, this shoe is far from subdued. The standout features of this shoe make sense once you find out that dogs are known for their loyalty and attractiveness.

Last year, Nike released the “Year of the Rabbit” with suede upper, bright orange and varsity blue accents, clear sole and chenille logo and the bold rabbit on the heel tab. The warm colors are truly representative of the spirit of the rabbit. The rabbit is creative, compassionate and friendly.

The Make Something Workshops is a series of youth creative workshops held in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami and Tokyo. The goal is to work with public school art programs and youth mentors to encourage aspiring artists and give hands-on experience in art, film, fashion, design and music.

This month Nike teams up with Make Something!!, Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt and National Design Museum.

Based around the upcoming World Basketball Festival, the Workshops are split into Design and Art curriculums. The design week offers teenagers aged between 14 and 18 the chance to learn and work with designers, from Jordan Brand, Nike, Nike Sportswear and Converse to design apparel, footwear and more.

The experience continues with 10 other creative Make Something!! art-based workshops, led by world-renowned artists, handing over skill and experience on how to produce and promote your own creative talents. To end with a blast, the World Basketball Festival Celebration Event will be held at famous Rucker Park in August.

Nike continues the Write the Future campaign, but his time uses is to increase awareness about AIDS in Africa instead of selling shoes or promoting World Cup. The campaign comes together with (PRODUCT) RED and give you some information on what you can do to make a difference.

“NIKE78 is an exciting new project created by Paul Jenkins and inspired by NIKE. Creatives involved will receive a brand new pair of NIKE shoes and will be asked to use sport as inspiration to challenge their function. The project will be documented on this website and after the shoes have been collected, an exhibition showcase is planned for the London Design Festival 2010. This is a unique project featuring some of the most talented creative individuals, studios and other organisations.

NIKE have been chosen as the inspiration for this project due to their rich history of creative ventures and the brand’s constant aim to push the boundaries of sport, something which NIKE78 will also seek to creatively challenge.”

With the World Cup sitting just around the corner, Nike has released the full length video to promote their “Write The Future Campaign”. The campaign is centered around the world’s most popular sport, football (or soccer to you Americans), and how winning or losing can have an impact on the lives of your countrymen. Football fans around the world will be able to experience the full three-minute film online at nikefootball.com from May 20th at 6pm GMT before it rolls out through global partnerships with Facebook, YouTube and QQ.com on Saturday the 22nd. The spot will then air across 32 countries, sharing the campaign with millions of fans around the world on May 22nd.

The film feature appearences from some of the world’s best players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, Fabio Cannavaro, Franck Ribery, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott, Patrice Evra, Gerard Pique, Ronaldinho, Landon Donovan, Tim Howard and Thiago Silva. There are also special guest cameos by tennis legend Roger Federer and basketball superstar Kobe Bryant, with Homer Simpson completing the star-studded cast of appearances.

In addition to the theatrical aspect of the film, we get a good look at Nike’s supercharged Elite Series football boots. The sneakers provide new levels of performance for players during the tournament.
