For all of those Idol fans who believed that Adam Lambert was shafted [I am one of them], here is his first single, ‘Want’. I have to be honest, it’s not exactly what I expected to hear from him…but then again, it’s typical behavior of an Idol contestant to releases something radio friendly on their first time out.

Last night I was fortunate enough to get together with LAUSD and some of the biggest taste makers in LA for the Curly Tops & Nautica Jackets listening session. If you grew up on the west in the 90′s, this title needs no introduction. For those who are still a bit confused, Curly Tops & Nautica Jackets marks a time of life where freshness was key, cliques were on point and the ladies fell in love with the man with the cleanest Dockers and Wallabees.

L.A.U.S.D, while synonymous with the school district, stands for Los Angeles Unifed Sound District. The production team, Lazy Lou and Polyester, worked with over 30 artists and for over a year to perfect this album; including everyone from J. Davey, to U-N-I, PacDiv, Blu…you name it, they’re on it. Make no mistake, it is not a mixtape. It is not a street album. Curly Tops & Nautica Jackets is the first project of a movement that is focused on bringing the city together, showcasing our talent and creating an awareness that the West is indeed…back.

Shout out to EightysBaby, 2dopeboyz, BananaClipse, Eazee, DjSpintelect and of course, Jansport J [who produced 2 tracks on the album, 'Starter Jackets' and 'we Made It']. The album drops Tuesday, March 24th. Make sure you cop.

Good Morning NerdLike.com. ¬†I am Jacques, from www.jacquesmorel.com. ¬†Short introduction…I am explained in less than 160 Characters. ¬†“My opinion matters more than yours”. Regardless off that, thanks to Jazzy for putting me on and I think we should get started…shall we?

For the first segment of “Listen, Becasue I Said So”, the spotlight is rap artist, J Cole. ¬†J Cole hails out of the Carolinas with a sound of a rapper heavily dosed in New York styles. ¬†With eloquent flows and complex wordplay and vocabulary, J Cole is something that needs to be realized rather than listened too. ¬†J Cole also produces 99.9999% (according to him himself) of his beats; making him something that is rare in todays rap. ¬†

J Cole is my favorite up-and-coming rapper. ¬†Which makes him better than yours. ¬†Give him a listen, drop a comment, and tell me who is your favorite. ¬†I mean, it does not matter but you can still tell me.

Little Bit

Swedish born Lykke Li was born into an artistic family, her mother was a photographer, father a musician. After growing up all over the world, she landed in New York at 19. Earlier this year, she released her first album, Youth Novels, and it was a hit among music enthusiasts. Something about this chick reminds me of Feist, but I haven’t quite put my finger on it. Regardless, she’s dope. Check out the video for “Little Bit” and if you’re so inclined, pick up the rest of the album while your at it.

EchoPlex Show aka Twitter Meet Up.

Last night, I found myself down at the EchoPlex to see quite a few talented acts perform. It was an 18+ show, so needless to say, plastic cups, and overdressed women were in abundance. However, the insane show made up for it all, and will probably go down as one of the best local shows I’ve ever been to. PacDiv, U-N-I, Diz Gibran, Dom Kennedy and quite a few others hit the stage. If you didn’t believe it before, the West is coming back, and in true fashion, going hard. I am also referring to this as the SoCal Hip-Hop Twitter meet up, since 1/2 of my followers were in the building LOL. Here are a couple pics, see the rest on WhatEyeThought.Com.
