For all of those Idol fans who believed that Adam Lambert was shafted [I am one of them], here is his first single, ‘Want’. I have to be honest, it’s not exactly what I expected to hear from him…but then again, it’s typical behavior of an Idol contestant to releases something radio friendly on their first time out.
As you know, our good friend DonWill recently shot the video for his single ‘Laura’s Song’. After we posted it, so many people hit me up asking me for it, and I am glad to say, it is finally available. Download your copy today for less than a buck. Trust me, it’s worth it.
I have been a Fiona Apple fan since my early teens…and while her music always hints at the subtle changes that come with the natural transformation of self, her message never wavers. ‘Think what you want about me….you either mess with it…or you don’t.’
Her newest jazz inspired release is on a A Tribute To Cy Coleman’ 6-track compilation CD EP. Check it out below:
Last night I was fortunate enough to get together with LAUSD and some of the biggest taste makers in LA for the Curly Tops & Nautica Jackets listening session. If you grew up on the west in the 90’s, this title needs no introduction. For those who are still a bit confused, Curly Tops & Nautica Jackets marks a time of life where freshness was key, cliques were on point and the ladies fell in love with the man with the cleanest Dockers and Wallabees.
L.A.U.S.D, while synonymous with the school district, stands for Los Angeles Unifed Sound District. The production team, Lazy Lou and Polyester, worked with over 30 artists and for over a year to perfect this album; including everyone from J. Davey, to U-N-I, PacDiv, Blu…you name it, they’re on it. Make no mistake, it is not a mixtape. It is not a street album. Curly Tops & Nautica Jackets is the first project of a movement that is focused on bringing the city together, showcasing our talent and creating an awareness that the West is indeed…back.
For those of you who have been waiting for the return of Kweli and Hi-Tek, your prayers have been answered. They have linked back up and are working on rolling out what we all anticipate to be another classic. Check out “Internet Connection” feat. Bootsy Collins…and yes, that is a Twitter shout out at the end.
A couple of weeks ago, we featured DonWill of Tanya Morgan, and now, he has released a snippet vid from his shoot today. While it may not be too exciting to watch him walk down the cold BK streets, the track is bananas. Check out “Laura’s Song,” the title track from his solo album, “Don Cusack in High Fidelity.”
ShitDisco is a band that I don’t necessarily follow on a regular basis, but the concept of their latest video is insane. Pop-Up puppetry at it’s finest.
If you are not familiar with Mat Mchugh, take a listen to his music and you will know his life story. A member of the Aussie band, The Beautiful Girls, he has recently released a solo album. Below is the first single from Separatista, hope you enjoy it.
Good Morning NerdLike.com. I am Jacques, from www.jacquesmorel.com. Short introduction…I am explained in less than 160 Characters. “My opinion matters more than yours”. Regardless off that, thanks to Jazzy for putting me on and I think we should get started…shall we?
For the first segment of “Listen, Becasue I Said So”, the spotlight is rap artist, J Cole. J Cole hails out of the Carolinas with a sound of a rapper heavily dosed in New York styles. With eloquent flows and complex wordplay and vocabulary, J Cole is something that needs to be realized rather than listened too. J Cole also produces 99.9999% (according to him himself) of his beats; making him something that is rare in todays rap.
J Cole is my favorite up-and-coming rapper. Which makes him better than yours. Give him a listen, drop a comment, and tell me who is your favorite. I mean, it does not matter but you can still tell me.
