Its no secret that print magazines are slowly dying, and creation of new devices such as iPad’s and Kindle readers are making online magazines far more feasible and convenient for people on the go. Birche Magazine has not only created an online mag to suit the new magazine reader, they drew the whole thing out by hand. The result? Something very, very cool. Read the full story
Sans Oceana is a clothing line by Cleveland artists Rick Sans and Sergio Andujar. Their designs are influenced by different cultures mixed with an urban sophisticated style. Formed in 2004, the line has progressed to have a wearable art look and feel. They feel the line is for people who enjoy art, be fashionable or feel what they wear is an extension of themselves expressed in the visual form.
The apparel can be found in boutiques as well as their online store. Sans Oceana has sponsored parties at Sundance Film Festival, been worn in Nintendo Commericals, feature films, on Mtv and Cleveland Fashion Week. Their plans for Sans Oceana in 2010 is to broaden their oppotunites by taking the line overseas to Japan.
Do you love Sans Oceana designs? Well, lucky for one of you, they will be giving away a tee to one NerdLike winner!
We were recently sent an email by the up and coming company, Blank Label, introducing us to their new take on fashion; the co-created shirt. Changing the dynamic between the consumer and the product, the shirts allow you to be an active participant in the actual design process, from beginning to end. Using their online application, you are able to design your own personally branded shirt [hence the name, Blank Label]. Within 3 weeks of ordering, your shirt will be in your hands, ready to be worn to the office, the club, or that important business meeting you have. Check out their site, and follow them on Twitter for updates!
Growing up in the not so privileged streets of Oakland, California lead to the development of a new street concept… ArtistiCreation. With the brand living by the motto, “creating something from nothing,” the designers used their impoverished conditions to motivate a creative movement, which essentially released them from the situation. Owners Marviel Underwood and Robert Ortiz, teamed up with self taught artist, Artie Giles on the logo design, “CreAtion” which stands for ArtistiCreation.
“We wanted to produce a brand that encourages people to create no matter what their circumstances are by being unique and thoughtful.”
With every design made specifically to reflect the lifestyles and emotions of the creators, ArtistiCreation believes to have adapted a swag that represents both a self made mentality as well as a sense of drive, regardless of the creative outlet. Whether you are a musician, artist, writer or designer, ArtisitCreation wants to help you express yourself.
Lucky for one of you, ArtistiCreation wants to give away one shirt of the winner’s choice, a $30 value!
Isotope Tees’s aesthetic is all about flying your geek flag high. With a collection of unisex tees that appeal to the NerdLike senses, they have everything from science to map tees, as well as a few funny quotables as well. Heavily inspired by geometric graphic forms and asymmetrical art forms, these tees rock.
I immediately fell in love with this Vintage Cartographic Map tee. To come up with the design, isotope searched through old map archives and found a striking graphic from the early 20th-Cenutry. The design was adapted from a map of Manitoba Canada. Not only is it a real life depiction of a place that truly exists, but you can see the detailing…including the river that runs through it.
Since isotope’s tees are printed on unisex t shirts, in sizes small through XXL, there is something for everyone!

Look kids, it’s me! I guess this makes me some kind of psuedo model now…who knows. Anyway, I heart these shirts by Eighty’s Baby they go perfect with my Jordan 1s [and 4s actually]. And yes, I’m wearing a fanny pack. Don’t judge me.
I am about to break the hearts of millions of eighty’s babys around the globe. While during the ‘Smooth Criminal’ video, the famous lean was staged, there was no way to do that during this live performance in 1992.
Well, it turns out it wasn’t magic [sorry kiddos] but instead, a special patented shoe that Michael and his dancers wore. Check out how the guy on the right having a bit of trouble extricating himself from the paraphernalia in the vid.
Tony Shellman, Co-Founder of Parish Nation clothing sat down with NerdLike to discuss with us the mark they are leaving on street wear and what we can expect to see.
NerdLike: Parish has often been referred to as ‘Post Modern StreetWear.’ How does that fit in to the hipster movement we are currently knee deep in?
Parish Nation: Parish fits in because we’re forever changing. Change is fact, growth is optional. We have no fear of growth and change. Things are done differently now than they were even just a couple years ago.
NL: How did the collab with Nike come about, and why stray from the typically customized dunk?
PN: It actually was not a collab, Nike did a shoe, we did a shirt, but they just happened to be on the same trend fashion-wise. Tight weave and seersucker type stripe or baby seersucker/railroad stripes. We pay homage to Nike, but we’re both doing our parts. They were actually surprised by the results as well.
NL: What prompted the evolution from retro-mix and highly graphic prints and who is Parish Nation now?
PN: We don’t want to get pigeon holed as a retro company. We want to be known as a young men’s street clothing company. In other words, we don’t want to be one-dimensional. Parish Nation is for the young, in the know customers. We make it for a diverse crowd…black, white, or green, any cat just looking for hot apparel.
NL: I’m loving the re-defintion of tradition with the nautical/sailor feel. What can we expect from Parish coming in the Fall?
PN:For the fall, traditions are being twisted. The Fall line will present forward looking, clean items. Although somewhat clean and traditional, it will be twisted up with a lot of plaids and stripes. You can look forward to lifestyle pieces that are clean but classically detailed garments.
Parish-Nation wants to outfit two lucky NerdLike readers with a piece of their Spring 2009 line!
ENTRY RULES: Browse the Parish Nation shop and leave a comment below telling us what you’re favorite item is.
EXTRA ENTRIES: Tweet this post and leave the status update below in a separate comment.
