E3: Cyber Clean [Review]

Cyber Clean made their showing at this years E3 with a large showspace in the West Hall, giving gamers and office mates alike a way to clean their equipment with ease. Known as the the high tech cleaning compound, the putty claims to deep clean any surface it touches, including the harmful dust and dirt that resides in the cracks of your keyboard.

Computers aren’t the only thing this stuff cleans, I have used it around the house on my iPhone, t.v. trays and some of my kids’ toys. The cool part about this stuff is that while you are using it, the anti-bacterial magic inside of the putty keeps your hands clean as well.

Coming in a few different size options, Cyber Clean is reusable and lets you know when it’s time to re-up. When the coloring moves from bright yellow to dull green, its time to replace the goo.  Check for Cyber Clean online, starting at $6.

Dabble Down Vinyls [Review & Giveaway!]

iusb_760x100.5883110

Dabble Down is an Etsy shop that specializes in vinyl wall graphics, one of the hottest trends that has emerged in interior design.  Why commit to paint choices and murals when you can change the feel of your walls whenever you want!?  Committed to bringing you some of the most abstract designs available, as well as one of the largest selections online, Dabble Down is ready to dress your home with quality decals.

il_430xN.87679688

Dabble Down recently sent us one of their decals to try out, the Boy Blowing Notes vinyl. Measuring in at 26″ x 26″ the decal is the perfect size for any small room, or accent wall.  Using a quality self adhesive as well as a completely waterproof vinyl, the decal can be placed high or low, without the worry of damage.   After much testing, Dabble Down’s vinyls are meant to last up to seven years, whether used indoors or outdoors.

il_430xN.80612059

The Boy Blowing Bubbles decal came perfectly wrapped in a safe shipping tube, with instructions attached.  It was fairly easy to put up, unlike some of the other vinyls we currently have up in the house, and I love the fact that each note was individually laid, which means I was able to place them on the wall in the way that I wanted.  The backing tape also peeled away nicely, leaving no bubbling or awkward placement.

Do you want a Boy Blowing Bubbles decal for your own home?  Well, you’re in luck!  Dabble Down is offering one lucky NerdLike reader a decal of their own, valued at $34.00!

Live What You Love [Giveaway]!

il_430xN.99936857

Hijirik is a freelance graphic/web designer from NYC  that decided to jump into the business of hand letterpress printing and linoleum printing.  Recently releasing the 7th Edition of their hugely popular Live What You Love Letterpress,  the shop is almost sold out of all of their releases!

il_fullxfull.99936859

Limited to only 48 prints, each one of these 8 x10 prints is letterpressed hand using vintage wood type blocks on 110lb, 100% cotton Lettra Pearl White paper with soy-based ink.  What does all of that mean, you ask?  It’s couture quality while remaining eco-friendly!

il_fullxfull.99936860

While the frame is not included, it is a US Standard, meaning you can find one anywhere, including Big Lots or Target.  But know…the frame hugely accents the print!  To add to the specialness of each print, Hijiri has stamped her Japanese symbol as a signature on the back, as well as each one being numbered on the back.

Hijirik wants to give away an 8×10 print of their Live What You Love Print to lucky NerdLike reader [a $25 value]!

The Ink Calendar.

Check out the Ink Calendar, a project by Spanish designer Oscar Diaz, which uses the capillary action of ink to display the date. Each month, a bottle of colored ink will spread across the paper, “printing” a date as it moves along the numbers.  Awesome.  via Dezeen

Of Mine Design is known for their handpainted designs on ceramic products.  This 16 oz. tumbler has been treated with non-toxic and lead free ceramic glaze, and then stuck in their kiln.  Afterwards, the shop owner took a picture of her very own Swingline desk stapler and digitized it on the cup.  The result is this awesome  tumbler which can be used as an effort to go green in your office or as your new pencil holder.  Measuring 6 inches high, it is made of durable earthenware ceramic.

Pilot Design’s Bamboo Clock Giveaway!

Pilot Design is a shop started by a graphic designer turned interactive designer…who bases his 3D work on the graphic design LOL. After building bespoke furniture for over 10 years, he decided to turn his attention towards timepieces, creating these modern bamboo clocks.

While his shop is filled with tons of great designs, this Splat Red Bamboo Modern Wall Clock was my personal favorite.  Besides the fact that bamboo is becoming more and more popular to work with, the coloring is beautiful and the design is fitting for any room in your house.  The craftsmanship is also amazing, as is the work on the rest of the items for sale in his shop.

GIVEAWAY: Pilot Design is giving this clock away to one lucky NerdLike reader [a $45.00 value]!

Music Lyric Staff Vinyls [Review & Giveaway]

Willow Creek Signs was started four years ago by two Military wives who were looking for something to do while their husbands were away. What started as a hobby, turned into a shop featuring over 400 designs to cover every corner of your home.
willowcreek

A few weeks ago, Willow Creek sent us one of their Music Lyric Staff vinyls  [pictured above] to try out in our new home.  It came Priority Mail, much like the other vinyls I have previously ordered, rolled into a tube.  There was a thorough instructions sheet included in the packaging, with customer service contacts printed clearly on them.

music vinyl
After unwrapping the vinyl, I began to look for a proper placement on the wall; it turns out that the original spot I had scouted out for them didn’t quite work.  So instead, we opted to cut the vinyl in half, and span it across the wall.  After prepping the vinyl, my husband and I peeled it off and got ready to lay it in it’s permanent position.

NOTE: Due to the size and intricate design of this particular vinyl, this was a two person job.  One of us peeled while the other one held down the backing paper.

Once up on the wall, we noticed that it wasn’t sticking as easily as the vinyls we have worked with before.  We had to rub the vinyl down on the wall several times to get it to stick, overall turning what I thought was going to be a 20 minute job into an hour LOL.

And of course, the picture of the final project.
vinyls-copy
Overall, this was a success.  The vinyl was just as beautiful as it was online, however a little challenging to work with.  I do not attribute any of our difficulties to the shop [they are fabulous!] I would just advise anyone working with a large vinyl with small details to have patience LOL.  Then again, they do say that good things come to those who wait…in this case, they were right.

Willow Creek Signs is giving away one of their Music Lyric Staff Vinyls [valued at 50.00] to one lucky reader!

Go Green! Reusable Laundry Sachet [Review & Giveaway]

softandcozy
Soft&Cozy is an Etsy shop that uses repurposed fabrics, vintage bedding, and fantastic thrift store finds in order to create practical items. In addition to that, each item from their shop is hand sewn…no machines are ever used.

Soft&Cozy recently sent me a set of their Lavender and Mint Dryer Satchels to review. In case you’re wondering exactly what a dryer satchel is, it is a reusable pouch that you use in place of a dryer sheet. Each eco-friendly dryer sachet is made from 100% repurposed fabric, and filled with all natural ingredients, including peppermint, eucalyptus, rosemary, locally grown lavender buds, and spearmint.
dryer1
The sachets came in a small envelope, with a little thank you card enclosed. I didn’t waste any time to try them out since 1) they smelled so fragrant and 2) I have 2 kids.  So I got my laundry together, and popped these in the dryer to test them out.  Before I go on with the review, I have a small confession.

I didn’t read the directions, and the first time I tried it, I only put one in the dryer LOL.

Okay, so let’s fast forward to trial number 2.  I re-read the directions, washed my clothes, and after I threw a full load into the dryer, I added all 3 sachets in with it [just as I would a few dryer sheets].  I could literally smell the clothes throughout the house as they were drying. Not only that, but when they were done, they were soft and smelled great.

Soft&Cozy recommends that you use each set a dozen times.  I found that my set went about 9 times before it started to lose it’s full strength.  After that, I used it twice more and then continued the theme of repurposing by putting them in my drawers and linen closet.
