This holiday season Coca-Cola has opted to replace Santa with their beloved Polar Bear.  For the first time ever Coca-Cola is changing its well know red cans to Arctic White! Designed with the companies longstanding icon, the polar bear, the can features a mother bear and her two cubs on a trek across the Arctic.

As of November 1^st through February 2012, consumers will notice the new packaging on the shelves. The new design is a part of Coca-Cola’s,in conjunction with the World Wildlife Fund, “Arctic Home” campaign, established   to help raise funds to protect the polar bears habitat. The cans have a code to text in $1 donations and all donations will be matched by the company up to $1 million. This is in excess to the $2 million Coca-Cola has donated upfront.

Who knows maybe for 4^th of July Coca-Cola will make the cans red, white, and blue, put some struggling Americans on the packaging and start a “Save The People Campaign”.

With the increase in suicides due to gay abuse, GLAAD has organized a National Spirit Day, honoring the memories of those passed and hoping to make a difference in the future.¬† Using the power of social media, teen maven Brittany McMillan came up with the idea, modeling it after a traditional Spirit Week at your local high school.¬† Instead of actually going somewhere or checking into a meeting, all you have to do is support is wear a little bit of purple…whether it be on your body or your online persona.

Wearing purple on October 20 is a simple way to show the world that you stand by these courageous young people and a simple way to stand UP to the bullies. Remember those lives we’ve tragically lost, and show your solidarity with those who are still fighting. ‘Go Purple’ today!

In celebration of the New Year, thousand’s of people recently took a trip down to the Singapore River, in order to leave their New Year’s wishes on a sphere, floating metaphorically on the river bed.¬† There were designated ‘wishing stations’ set up around the river to support the art installation, which took place on Dec. 18th.¬† On the night of New Year’s Eve, it is expected that over 10k spheres will be floating in the river.¬† via marinacountdown

The Blondies themselves were individually wrapped inside of the box for freshness, and as far as taste goes, each one was moist and extra sweet.¬† The corner pieces were even included, which were my husband’s favorite.¬† With a single order, you get nine Blondies delivered to your door, as well as the accompanying sauce, which in my opinion, was way more than you needed for the nine.

Jewel of the Lion is a lovely little Etsy shop that features everything from edibles to jewelry.  One of NerdLike’s favorite items is their ‘Aunt Helen’s Pumpkin Bread‘.  We love the idea of getting delicious goodies by mail, especially during the stressful holiday time.  The loaves can be purchased in either a two pack or a four pack and if you don’t believe in gifting food…do what I plan on doing.  Spend $25 bucks on a few loaves and take one to every Holiday Dinner you attend.  Stress free, and delicious.

We were lucky enough to receive a four pack of Aunt Helen’s Pumpkin Bread earlier in the week, and I would be lying if I told you that there was still some left.¬† I ate an entire loaf…by myself…in one day.¬† I was anticipating the taste to be somewhere between my own aunt’s pumpkin bread and the little muffins that Starbucks provides; I was wrong LOL.¬† The first surprise was the packaging, which easily could have been gifted right out of the box.

The loaves were packaged inside of an airtight ziplock as well as foil wrapped for freshness.¬†¬† Inside each of those packages are two loaves, both measuring about 8 inches in length.¬† While the loaves are small in size, they pack a big punch.¬† Each one is dense yet soft, all the way from the crust to the very middle.¬† The crust is actually sweet as well, unlike a lot of the Pumpkin Bread’s I’ve tasted, which have a bitter outside.

Another great thing about this bread is that it is ‘just sweet enough.’¬† I sliced a bit for breakfast, and ate it with some toasted granola, and then later on in the evening I heated it up in the microwave and then topped it with a dollop of ice cream [similar to a brownie].¬†¬† In fact, the texture could be compared to a well baked brownie, it is cohesive, chewy and dense all at the same time.

Last month, Google announced that they were offering free WiFi on Virgin America Flights. To help sweeten the deal, they have now announced that they will also be offering free WiFi at 47 airports around the country. The program last from today until January 15, 2010. how sweet is that? The hand punched holes appear flat and decorative when held up directly to light, but they transform into a low level bas relief when tilted revealing their textural, embossed edges [making them able to be admired from all angles].

Each hole is individually hand “punched,” making no two cards exactly the same, and each comes with a matching color envelope. Holes are small enough to not reveal anything written inside. Cards are 3″x5″ antique white card stock.
