FlyTrap – Obnoxious Parking Notes [Giveaway!]

mean funny snarky cards sex notes easter passover by NeatThings

Based in Denver, CO USA, Flytrap — so named because the elusive Venus Flytrap teeters on the edge of appropriate plant behavior just as Flytrap products do — is a small press greeting card, stationery, and paper gifts company.  With original artwork and sentiments, the owner, Jen, is often helped by her good friend Lauren when it comes to the snarky vernacular.

snark

With everything from little notecards to snarky greeting cards, FlyTrap has tons of paper goods to get you through any type of occasion.  One of our favorite pieces from the shop are their Parking Tickets.  These official-looking tickets are perfect for those times when you just know it’s not right to key a car or poke a hole in the tires. Do something more amusing instead. Get these tickets for yourself or as a gift. Note the packaging — it’s very gift-worthy.

Thailand’s Wishing Spheres.

wishing-spheres-0

In celebration of the New Year, thousand’s of people recently took a trip down to the Singapore River, in order to leave their New Year’s wishes on a sphere, floating metaphorically on the river bed.  There were designated ‘wishing stations’ set up around the river to support the art installation, which took place on Dec. 18th.  On the night of New Year’s Eve, it is expected that over 10k spheres will be floating in the river.  via marinacountdown

12 Days of Xmas – Day 2: QACreate Wine Glass Tags [Giveaway!]

nerdlikexmas

It’s the second day of Christmas and NerdLike brings you…this beautiful set of Wine Tags from QA Create. In true steampunk fashion, QA Create uses vintage typewriter keys to make wine tags for your glasses.  These are perfect for dinner parties or small get togethers you are having, where you don’t want glasses to get mixed up!  Each key is hand-crafted from vintage typewriter keys, each one being gently removed from the 1930-1940s era typewriter. QA Create’s then hand polishes them and places each one on a ring (that’s easy to place on and off a wine glass.)

Macy’s Believe Campaign & $25 Macy’s Gift Card Giveaway

Building on last year’s success with the Make-A-Wish foundation, Macy’s Believe campaign is back for the holidays. This year, Macy’s is adding to the spirit of “Believe” with a national Santa Tour, an honorary National Believe Day, a “Yes, Virginia” animated special, and a new TV commercial featuring Queen Latifah.

The nostalgic holiday campaign was inspired by the New York Sun’s famous “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” editorial from 1897 and includes letter-writing “Believe Stations” in Macy’s stores across the country.  For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $1 million. A great idea if you ask me.

National Believe Day / “Yes, Virginia” Animated Special – On Friday, December 11th, Macy’s will celebrate the first National Believe Day to recognize and reward acts of kindness and generosity from coast to coast. Also that day, CBS will premiere a new original animated special called, “Yes, Virginia.” on Friday, December 11, at 8 p.m. ET.

Now to help promote this campaign, M80 and Macy’s has agreed to giveaway a $25 Macy’s Gift Card to two of our readers.

Scrumpdillyumptious Blondie Brownies [Review & Giveaway]!

Let me do your holiday baking for you by Scrumpdillyumptious

Scrumpdillyumptious is an Etsy shop that wants to do your Holiday baking for you!  Run by a mother of two, the owner has been baking for her entire life, perfecting her creative craft.  With everything from Red Velvet Sandwich Cookies, to Knock Ya Nekkid Brownies, her shop is filled with decadent goodies that will melt your heart as well as your taste buds.

il_fullxfull.79087338

Recently, we received a box of their White Chocolate Walnut Brownies, and as a fan of the Applebees version, I had high expectations.  The Blondies came wrapped to perfection, with a jar of buttery walnut maple sauce.  The packaging was perfect for gifting, or showcasing on your Holiday dessert table.

P1010814.JPG

The Blondies themselves were individually wrapped inside of the box for freshness, and as far as taste goes, each one was moist and extra sweet.  The corner pieces were even included, which were my husband’s favorite.  With a single order, you get nine Blondies delivered to your door, as well as the accompanying sauce, which in my opinion, was way more than you needed for the nine.

Scrumpdillyumptious wants to give one of you a pack of White Chocolate Walnut Blondies for free!  That’s a $25 value!

Jewel of the Lion Pumpkin Bread [Review & Giveaway]!

il_fullxfull.102975337

Jewel of the Lion is a lovely little Etsy shop that features everything from edibles to jewelry.  One of NerdLike’s favorite items is their ‘Aunt Helen’s Pumpkin Bread‘.  We love the idea of getting delicious goodies by mail, especially during the stressful holiday time.  The loaves can be purchased in either a two pack or a four pack and if you don’t believe in gifting food…do what I plan on doing.  Spend $25 bucks on a few loaves and take one to every Holiday Dinner you attend.  Stress free, and delicious.

il_fullxfull.102975340

We were lucky enough to receive a four pack of Aunt Helen’s Pumpkin Bread earlier in the week, and I would be lying if I told you that there was still some left.  I ate an entire loaf…by myself…in one day.  I was anticipating the taste to be somewhere between my own aunt’s pumpkin bread and the little muffins that Starbucks provides; I was wrong LOL.  The first surprise was the packaging, which easily could have been gifted right out of the box.

P1010812

The loaves were packaged inside of an airtight ziplock as well as foil wrapped for freshness.   Inside each of those packages are two loaves, both measuring about 8 inches in length.  While the loaves are small in size, they pack a big punch.  Each one is dense yet soft, all the way from the crust to the very middle.  The crust is actually sweet as well, unlike a lot of the Pumpkin Bread’s I’ve tasted, which have a bitter outside.

P1010817

Another great thing about this bread is that it is ‘just sweet enough.’  I sliced a bit for breakfast, and ate it with some toasted granola, and then later on in the evening I heated it up in the microwave and then topped it with a dollop of ice cream [similar to a brownie].   In fact, the texture could be compared to a well baked brownie, it is cohesive, chewy and dense all at the same time.

Jewel of the Lion wants to give one lucky NerdLike reader a four pack of Aunt Helen’s Pumpkin Bread, right on time for Thanksgiving [a $25.00 value]!

warpeDesign Hand Punched Cards Giveaway!

iusb_760x100.6044873

warpeDesign is a unique shop that creates hand punched items, particularly cards, that are not only visually appealing, but appeal to the senses…just like textiles.  Playing with both light and dimension, the cards are a piece of art as a standalone item, before you even put your words inside.

3 cards

Named the Snail series, this set of cards begs to be touched and looked at. The hand punched holes appear flat and decorative when held up directly to light, but they transform into a low level bas relief when tilted revealing their textural, embossed edges [making them able to be admired from all angles].

Each hole is individually hand “punched,” making no two cards exactly the same, and each comes with a matching color envelope. Holes are small enough to not reveal anything written inside. Cards are 3″x5″ antique white card stock.

closeup
warpeDesign’s shipping process is also both professional and quick.  Each set of cards are sealed in cellophane bags and shipped in a non-bendable photo mailer using USPS first class mail.

Honestly, these cards are insanely beautiful…they are unique, easy to personalize and not your everyday Hallmark card.  They will make a timeless keepsake for whomever receives them!
