Just to clarify, this is not a promotional Subway article, although Subway do need just a bit more swag. Carrie Weston, a jeweler born in Orange County, San Francisco has created a ring with real bite to it, the Sandwich ring is based on a BLT sandwich; it features 5 layers/rings which are meant to symbolize the different components of the much-loved lunch time snack. The ring is available in sterling silver or multicolored gold for the reasonable price of $995.00, if you have any spare cash in that treasured wallet of yours, don’t hesitate to get one. For all you sandwich loving fans; hopefully they’ll make a polish boy version, might be a bit of “handful” though.

Mr. Dillon said that so far, the sundae has generated the most buzz and excitement.

13 years ago today, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone was published. In honor of that useless bit of information, we have posted a much loved recipe for ButterBeer, a wizardly beverage that is often referenced in the books.

Ingredients:

* 1 cup (8 oz) club soda or cream soda
* ¬? cup (4 oz) butterscotch syrup (ice cream topping)
* ¬? tablespoon butter

Directions:

Step 1: Measure butterscotch and butter into a 2 cup (16 oz) glass. Microwave on high for 1 to 1¬? minutes, or until syrup is bubbly and butter is completely incorporated.

Step 2: Stir and cool for 30 seconds, then slowly mix in club soda. Mixture will fizz quite a bit.

Step 3: Serve in two coffee mugs or small glasses; a perfectly warm Hogwarts treat for two!

Butterbeer was a popular wizarding beverage described as tasting “a little bit like less-sickly butterscotch.”

It had a very slight alcohol content, which could get house-elves fully drunk, but seemed to have a less pronounced effect on humans.

Thai Food at Home is a home grown shop, dedicated to bringing you a true Thai food experience here in the States.¬† Many of the most popular Thai dishes that are seen in local restaurants are available in the shop including a Tom Yum Soup Kit, a Pad Thai kit [available in a vegetarian option as well], and everyone’s favorite, Thai Iced Tea.

Recently, Thai Food At Home sent me one of their Thai Street Vendor Style Marinades to try out.¬† I will be the first to admit, I am not a fan of Thai food. I’ve tried it multiple times…..and just could never get into it.¬† But upon checking the listing for this particular marinade, I couldn’t resist trying it out.¬† The recipe that is used was passed down to the shop owner by his aunt in Thailand.¬† It is to replicate the meat sold out on the streets in the vendor stands, where locales say the best food is found.

I received the marinade in a small package that was temperature controlled via USPS.  I could smell it outside of the package, which was an indication to me of the quality of ingredients used.

I got together some chicken thighs and drumsticks and then proceeded to follow the marinating directions [which was an easy 3 step process that any level chef could follow] and then handed it off to my husband, who is the only person who touches the grill at my house.  He grilled it up, and brought it in for the company that we had over.

I have to say, maybe I haven’t been to the right Thai restaurants….but the smell of this chicken was insane. It smelled soooo good, and when we tasted it, the chicken was so tender. It literally fell off the bone. Featuring hints of honey, cilantro, garlic and more, I was obsessed.¬† The chicken was gone within minutes and everyone was mad that I had no more marinade LOL. Everyone has been begging me to order more, and I have to say…as a work at home mom of 2 boys, I will be stocking up. It is a quick and simple solution that pleases everyone. Did I mention that the marinade could be frozen for later use? Score!

It’s always a hard time to say goodbye to summer, so why not enjoy it all year long with Chalice Hill Herbal’s Hibiscus Summer Tea.¬† Chalice Hill Herbals is the product of a passionate artist whom wants to deliver the power of healing herbs to you!¬† She specializes in making specially formulated, handcrafted herbal therapy products for you and your home.

I received a couple of bags of their Hibiscus Summer Tea and was so excited to try it.¬† Once brewed, I noticed how colorful it was.¬† It was super bright, even after I dilluted it with a bit of sugar.¬† I have now come to learn that it’s bright red coloring comes from the hibiscus which also gives it a light, fruity flavor.

The taste of the tea was light yet crisp.¬† I assume the little ‘bite’ from the tea comes from the inclusion of lemon peel and lemon verbana inside of the bag.¬† Overall the flavor was perfect, yet as a sweet tea drinker, I prefer mine extra sweet.¬† So, I added a couple teaspoons of sugar to mine LOL.¬† Being caffeine free, it makes the tea enjoyable not only in the day, but also for dinner or for a late night!

Studies have shown that drinking hibiscus tea can effectively lower high blood pressure and reduce high cholesterol levels in many individuals!

What better time to sit back, relax and pop open a cold…milkshake than now!¬† And what better than a milkshake that can be done in 1 minute?¬† No chopping, prepping or blending...just pour, shake and go. MolliCoolz has come to the lazy busy people’s rescue!¬† They have created a way to make cryogenicaly frozen beads of delectable ice cream. Unlike conventional ice cream, the MolliCoolz free flowing beads contain multiple flavors and colors that pour into your mouth delivering a totally unique and unforgettable experience. Currently, MolliCoolz is the largest producer of its kind and is available in 14,000 grocery stores and hundreds of stadiums, arenas and movie theatres throughout America.

The great people at MolliCoolz sent me over a few Shakers to try out with my kiddos.  Neither of them are too into shakes or cold desserts, and my eldest hates milk.  I thought the science of these would possibly change his mind. Check out the vid below:

[kaltura-widget wid="xphhbfr33c" width="400" height="365" addpermission="" editpermission="" /]

After making the first flavor he chose [Strawberry], Zion immediately wanted to make another flavor, and we did!  And believe it or not, he drank the whole thing!

MolliCoolz Shakers come in 4 different flavors; Vanilla, Cookies & Cream, Strawberry and Chocolate.¬† The process is uber simple, add milk up to the line [less for a thicker shake, more for a thinner one] shake for roughly 30 seconds and you’re done!¬† I like my shakes where you have to eat it with a spoon, so I shook mine for about a minute to a minute thirty.

Besides the convenience, the best thing about these Shakers is:

They are kid friendly!¬† The little one’s can grab one and shake it up all on their own.

You don’t HAVE to use milk!¬† In fact, MolliCoolz suggests using soda, coffee, or any other cold beverage to mix in and make a custom flavor.¬† I poured root beer into the Vanilla Shaker and had a blended float!

They are recession friendly.  At about $2 a Shaker, they are an inexpensive way to have a delicious treat.

MolliCoolz wants to give 2 of you a 4 pack of their Shakers to help cool off in this heat!

The Daily Green hipped it’s readers to quite a few things you could do with eggs [besides fertilize and scramble them]. Here are a few of my favs:

Less Bitter Coffee
Add an eggshell to the coffee in the filter, and your morning coffee will be less bitter. The spent coffee grounds, eggshell and bio-degradable filter are then conveniently ready for the compost pile.

Natural Drain Cleaner
Keep a couple of crushed eggshells in your kitchen sink strainer at all times. They trap additional solids and they gradually break up and help to naturally clean your pipes on their way down the drain.

Egg on Your Face
Pulverize dried egg shells with a mortar and pestle, then whisk the powder in with an egg white and use for a healthful, skin-tightening facial. Allow the face mask to dry before rinsing it off.

Off the Farm sent me some of their Spud Patch Potato Soup to test out...for 8 bucks it fed my family for a week.

A few weeks ago, I was sent a package of Off the Farm’s Spud Patch Potato Soup to try out. This soup mix is one of many offered by Off the Farm; all of them requiring little to no work to go from the pot to the table. With these mixes, all you need is some water, milk and a big pot [preferably a crock pot].

This particular mix was filled with fragrant spices and tons of great veggies. With potatoes, carrots, corn and tons of other stuff…it is uber filling and easy to switch up.¬† It also preservative & MSG free.

I cut my package open, threw it in the crock pot, added some chicken broth and some diced chicken and let it cook up. About 30 minutes before serving, I added some half and half [in order to give it a chowder feel] and it was ready to go.

The flavor was great, especially for a soup that basically ‘came from a box’. Not only did it taste fresh, but for 8 bucks, that chowder fed my family for the entire week. The soup’s label gives you the easy instructions, as well as offers some variations i.e. add clams, serve over toast etc.

Off the Farm wants to give one lucky winner a package of their choice [Spud Patch Potato, Haystack Confetti Onion Dip, Tomato Basil Dip, Ole Cow Salsa Dip or Country Lane Vegetable.

MANDATORY ENTRY: So easy! Leave a comment below letting us know which one you want to win!

Jazzy took a set of Nick Paul's beer cups for a test drive. Find out how they did and win your own set!

Nick Paul, a glass blower from Chicago sent me a set of his recycled beer glasses to review. When they showed up on my doorstep [via UPS] I was a bit nervous. UPS has a tendency to not be so careful when it comes to shipping, however, Nick’s packing was impeccable. With each glass packed uber securely, they were perfect. The Red Stripe set came with six 12 ounce glasses and a beer carrier.

Each glass looked as if it was intended to be that way, perfectly formed with absolutely no imperfections. It’s probably due to the process…

The transition from bottle to glass is an interesting one. It starts by washing the bottle, then placing it into an annealing oven. The oven is set to 1001 degrees, and let to sit for 30 minutes. The bottle is heated until the glass begins to move. A special tool is then used to open the narrow bottleneck into a cylinder. Once the bottle is in its final shape it is then placed back into an annealing oven to cool, to assure no stress fractures form in the cup.

These glasses were a hit at our recent 4th of July party, with everyone wondering where I got them and how they were made. It turns out that Nick Paul can make any bottle with a painted label into a glass, all you have to do is ask. Also, the glass itself is thick and durable, unlike some of those trademark glasses you may find at your local grocery store or WalMart.  I ran these through the dishwasher over 7 times so far and they remain unchanged.

The exciting news is that one of you won’t have to wait too long for your own, as Nick will be giving you your own set of beer cups [valued at 60.00] for free! The winner will get a full set of six 12 ounces glasses, with their choice of either Red Stripe, Rolling Rock or Corona.
