With the winter collection already flowing one can’t help but wonder what’s to come in spring. Well wait no longer! Toms will be releasing their first ever ballet flats line for the spring 2012 season. With an array of designs, patterns and materials women will no longer have to trade in their ober comfy Toms for a pair of office pinchers and achers. While reading WWD the other day, I couldn’t help but notice a blurb on Miss Piggy. Our favorite muppet drama queen is fashion’s it-girl. We all know Disney is dropping a new “Muppets” movie (Nov. 23) and Piggy is playing the editor of French Vogue, but her glam is going ham.

Catch her in November’s InStyle, rocking couture made specifically for her by the likes of Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, Opening Ceremony, Suno, Brian Atwood and Giles & Brother. She has some striking colors in the OPI Muppets polish collection and she is the prima pig for MAC makeup collection, also in stores in November. Did I mention she’ll join the elite judges of “Project Runway All Stars” too? Piggy makes it work. Kermit better let her upgrade him.

Currently on view at Zurich’s Museum Bellerive, the exhibition “Pap(i)er Fashion” reveals the ancient material’s cultural, aesthetic and political history throughout fashion. From its invention in China (approximately 100 A.D.) to modern-day uses as both a print medium and a textile, the show juxtaposes the the ephemeral use of paper alongside its more timeless qualities.

Focusing on paper as a wearable material, the show dives right into the swinging 60′s, when paper dresses adopted the form of subversive canvases for pop art and political propaganda. Newspaper-printed paper clothing flaunting banner headlines or political candidates’ names became particularly popular tongue-in-cheek examples of sartorial protest.
