The holiday shopping season is upon us, but it’s not just the season to give. It’s the season to give back. Lucky for recessionistas, you can do both at once. Many companies offer product that donates to charity, but none more thoughtfully than Philosophy

I am a huge fan of their shower gels, particularly the children imagery and beautifully written descriptions and thoughts on the packaging. One of my favorite gifts to buy are the charity products they offer (try the Chocolate Chip Cookies) Philosophy supports everything from the fight against cancer and sexual assault to helping out PBS.  And it’s not just a portion of proceeds to support the cause, it’s 100%.

Save the Children Australia is hosting an online gallery showcasing their new campaign to make injustice for children a thing of the past. While it can be easy to forget when it’s not shoved in your face, tt’s 2009, yet things like child prostitution, child soldiers and child deaths from unclean water still plague us. Do your part.

Wendy’s has traditionally used Father’s Day weekend to promote their drive for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. From Friday to Sunday, .50 of any Frosty will be donated to the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program, which funds full-time adoption recruiters at local agencies across the U.S., who in turn pair up parents with foster care children needing homes.

Sunny days are just about here again and a lot of ladies are ready for a summer cut. If you’re thinking about cutting your lovely locks, don’t just let the hair hit the salon floor. Think about donating it to a charity. Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from medical hair loss. So if you have at least 10 inches of hair you are going to get rid of, put in a ponytail, get it cut and give it to a kid who needs it.

The How Are You Doing Today project started one year ago as a hotline that asks you to answer one simple question. How are you doing today?

The answers are bleeped out and mixed so that they become anonymous and then posted on their website. To try it out today, call the hotline at 1(800)737-6045.

Benefitees is a tee shirt company of worth. The shirts have been designed to be walking billboards for whichever cause they are supporting, by graphic designers and handmade Etsy sellers. The particular shirt posted benefits the Sexual Assault Response Services of Southern Maine. They develop and provide quality services to survivors of sexual assault and concerned others in York and Cumberland counties who need assistance resolving issues related to sexual assault.

United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is calling on citizens globally to plant 7 Billion trees. That’s one tree per person. While most of us don’t live in the rainforest, that doesn’t mean that we are not able to help the cause.

The UNEP has partnered with mokugift to make it easy for everyone to plant a tree. Here is how it works:

1. select the country where the tree is planted.

The bags were designed to raise much-needed funds for WFP school-feeding operations and make the public aware of the very serious issue of child hunger around the world. The number stamped on the side of the bag indicates how many children will be fed in one school year, as a result of the purchase of that bag.
