While African Americans might not being using desktops to access the Web, the mobile sector is a whole new ballgame. According to the report, Latinos and blacks are more likely to own a mobile phone than whites and outpace whites in mobile app use.

Compared with white cell phone owners, blacks and Latinos are significantly more likely to use their mobile devices to:

Make a charitable donation via text message (this finding is particularly interesting since white internet users are more likely to have made a charitable donation online—25% of online whites have done so, compared with 17% of African-Americans and 14% of Latinos.)

If you find yourself stranded somewhere with all of your favorite gadgets, and no mobile charger/extra battery, this Technocel PowerPak Universal Charger would certainly be your bff. At its best, the charger is the perfect solution to both being mobile and being able to charge your device with no nearby outlets. Once I gave the charger a full charge via wall outlet (which btw, takes 2 hours), it was a complete unit that I could use in the car and in my pocket.¬† It kept my blackberry alive right when I was approaching the point of no return, ya know, the Battery Too Low For Radio Use” prompt that I loathe so much.

The product’s press release actually describes its uses pretty accurately:

The Technocel PowerPak, a universal home charger combined into one unit featuring an emergency battery back up that can get you from point A to B. This technology will replace all your chargers with a single universal solution that will safely power your USB devices at home, in the car, in the airport or anywhere else. If you are running low on juice, the PowerPak built-in battery reserve will refuel it, whether there is a wall outlet or not.

Pros to the PowerPak:

|| Mobility || Like the statement said, when you are out and about, the Powerpack is perfect.  It will definitely retain and sustain your phone life until you can fully charge it via outlet.  If I was stuck in traffic, or waiting in the airport, having the ability to charge my device is priceless and in that regard, the PowerPak delivers.

|| Size || With a 2″ diameter and weighing in at 1.2 pounds, it’s both light and far from cumbersome. Perfect to add to any bag, purse or luggage, and it also comes with a very helpful velvet bag that lets you keep all of your cords and adapters in one safe place.

|| Charging Options || The PowerPak came with 10 adapters for pretty much every electronic device on the market right now. From Iphone to Smartphone, they have you covered. If you can’t find an adapter cord for your device, then you’re probably using a pager.

Cons Of The PowerPak:

|| One At A Time || The PowerPak is a great device in a small package, but this size is probably what prevented designers from adding another port. You can only charge one device at time, which is fine, but if you wanted to charge your Ipod and Blackberry at the same time, it’s not happening.

|| Full Charge Only Via Outlet || If you are stuck somewhere with no outlets, the PowerPak will certainly help sustain your device and will even charge it some, but you can only get a FULL complete charge when the unit is plugged into a wall. I attempted to charge my Blackberry while on a long car ride, the battery went from 10% to 75% in 45 minutes, but it also drained the battery of the PowerPak in the process.

So I was watching Jon Stewart last night and forcing the kids to finish the last bits of my Tampico and Patron sleepy time punch when I saw this commercial for the Powermat Charger. The charger allows you to charge your gadgets without actually plugging them in. You simply drop them on the powermat and walla! Because this tech is still new, you do have to buy a case for most devices, which in the end, will make for quite and expensive system considering the Powermat itself is $100. The cases will run you about $40 a piece.  But honestly, that is not the point of this post. The point is the commercial so check it out below:

For those of you that have beenunder a rock, T-Mobile is releasing two pretty interesting phones today. First, the T-Mobile my Touch 3G. Yes, it has a stupid name. Now that we got that out of the way, it is available today online, in stores and over the phone, the Android smartphone will set you back a penny shy of two C-notes on a 2-year contract. Personally, I can’t understand why they would make a phone without a 3.5mm headphone jack. Oh that’s right, they want me to buy an accessory. Bastards. Too bad this phone will never be the Hero.

The second phone they are releasing today is the budget Blackberry 8520. Now I am not sure why this is, but T-mobile is selling it on their site for $129.99, yet Walmart is selling the phone for $49.99. My suggestion would be to hit up Walmart. But then again I don’t have a job and you may wave an extra $80 dollars to spend.

First, the T-Mobile my Touch 3G. Yes, it has a stupid name. Personally, I can't understand why they would make a phone without a 3.5mm headphone jack. Oh that's right, they want me to buy an accessory.
Personally, I don’t know what took them so freakin long. My goodness. but I digress. Blackberry has finally announced that they are working on a client for Mac OSX and it will be available in September. Here are the initial features:

Sync your iTunes playlists, calendars, contacts, notes and tasks [if Apple doesn't find a way to kill it, of course]

Add/Remove applications

Update your device when new software becomes available

Backup and restore your device data with such features like automatically scheduled backups and optional encryption (security is #1 as always…)

Manage multiple devices

For some reason, I don’t think it will be as robust as the Windows version, but hey you have to take what you can get.

Well once they started to send out invites, we knew it was only a matter of time before they launched an app. The news comes straight from the mouth of Google Voice’s Vincent Paquet who says the application will allow Google Voice users to place calls on their devices and have recipients’ calls display the Google Voice number, and it will also make it possible to view voicemail transcripts within the application as opposed to through the mobile web. Still no word on SMS, but things are definitely moving ahead. Not sure why the iPhone has been left out of the loop.

As of about 9am EDT, the BlackBerry app is now available for OTA download at http://m.google.com/voice
