The news hit the web like a tsunami this morning, and now we have the vital information. The new Blackberry Torch 9800 will be hitting AT&T on August 12th for $199. Of course that is considering you sign a two year contract. With the iPhone 4 priced at $199, you have some very interesting decisions to make. The specs are as follows:
5 megapixel camera with flash
Full QWERTY on a portrait slide
802.11n support
BlackBerry 6 (New OS)
4GB of onboard storage and a 4GB microSD card in the box
512MB each of ROM and RAM
Quadband 3G radio that’ll travel well around the globe
A 480 x 360 touchscreen display
Optical trackpad
New Media Sync which allows you to sync your media library right over WiFi
Here are a few links to some hands-on experiences with the device:
Though Blackberry may have things on lock when it comes to getting you your email, the entire OS experience has been lacking to say the least. Both Apple and Google have made tremendous strides with their respective operating systems and continue to widen he gap. But RIM has not been resting on its lions. In fact, BBOS6 should be quite an advancement in the experience category if the video below is more than just fancy camera tricks. The video shows features like aggregated social network integration, universal search, and the all-new WebKit-based browser (Thank GOODNESS). Take a look and let us know what you think.
If you find yourself stranded somewhere with all of your favorite gadgets, and no mobile charger/extra battery, this Technocel PowerPak Universal Charger would certainly be your bff. Read the full story
If you have been waiting to cop that new BB on Sprint, well now is you chance. The BB has a 2.5-inch display, OS 5.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi, and the new BB trackpad. Click the pic for a link to the Sprint site.
The new standard in Blackberry is now available on T-Mobile for $200 with contract, and $449 without. I have been thinking about grabbing one for a while now, and think I just might go ahead and make it happen. I will let you know how it goes. In the meantime, there are reviews on the phone here, here, and here.
Update: Looks like AT&T will have it available on Sunday.
Double Update: If you buy the Bold at Walmart between 11/14 and 11/20, you can get a $100 gift card in the mail. However, it does take 4-6 weeks to get the card.
Many moons ago, i gave up my Blackberry for an Android G1, which i subsequently gave up for an iPhone. But that is neither here nor there. BBM 5.0 is out and it is fresh to def. So hit up the app store and grab it.
So I was watching Jon Stewart last night and forcing the kids to finish the last bits of my Tampico and Patron sleepy time punch when I saw this commercial for the Powermat Charger. The charger allows you to charge your gadgets without actually plugging them in. You simply drop them on the powermat and walla! Because this tech is still new, you do have to buy a case for most devices, which in the end, will make for quite and expensive system considering the Powermat itself is $100. The cases will run you about $40 a piece. But honestly, that is not the point of this post. The point is the commercial so check it out below:
What happens when Alexander Amosu takes his love of luxury and technology to the next level? You get the most expensive BlackBerry in the world. Crafted in 18 carat yellow gold and encrusted with 4,459 brilliant cut diamonds (that’s 28.43 carats!) and a 24-hour global concierge service, it’s going for $200, 366. And there will only be three. Maybe Jay will cop one for Bey.
For those of us Mac owners who have had a Blackberry since the beginning have unfortunately had no way to sync. There was good ol’ PocketMac, but that wasn’t always such a great and thorough option. Well, now a link has been leaked to save us all!

Tired of looking through the BB app world on your phone? Well RIM has come to the rescue. You can now access the Blackberry App World via your computer. You still can not d/l apps directly, but you can email them to yourself and d/l them directly to your phone.
For those of you that have beenunder a rock, T-Mobile is releasing two pretty interesting phones today. First, the T-Mobile my Touch 3G. Yes, it has a stupid name. Now that we got that out of the way, it is available today online, in stores and over the phone, the Android smartphone will set you back a penny shy of two C-notes on a 2-year contract. Personally, I can’t understand why they would make a phone without a 3.5mm headphone jack. Oh that’s right, they want me to buy an accessory. Bastards. Too bad this phone will never be the Hero.
The second phone they are releasing today is the budget Blackberry 8520. Now I am not sure why this is, but T-mobile is selling it on their site for $129.99, yet Walmart is selling the phone for $49.99. My suggestion would be to hit up Walmart. But then again I don’t have a job and you may wave an extra $80 dollars to spend.
Personally, I don’t know what took them so freakin long. My goodness. but I digress. Blackberry has finally announced that they are working on a client for Mac OSX and it will be available in September. Here are the initial features:
Sync your iTunes playlists, calendars, contacts, notes and tasks [if Apple doesn't find a way to kill it, of course]
Add/Remove applications
Update your device when new software becomes available
Backup and restore your device data with such features like automatically scheduled backups and optional encryption (security is #1 as always…)
Manage multiple devices
For some reason, I don’t think it will be as robust as the Windows version, but hey you have to take what you can get.
