Are You Nude?

For years, women have purchased nude cosmetics and undergarments for the “barely there” look. Unfortunately, Black and Latino women rarely find nude, buff, blush, or flesh tone items that match their skin tone.

30-something psychologist Tara Raines learned that women in her family were dyeing bras brown to fit their complexion since it was so difficult to find anything that matches their skin. Shocked by the news, Raines asked other women “What’s Your Nude?” By showing undergarment manufacturers that women of color have significant buying power, Raines hopes that they will stop alienating them and create bras in a wider variety of fleshtones.

With the support of celebrities like Holly Robinson Peete & Chrisette Michele, a social media campaign is gaining support.

Today (February 1) Raines is asking that women show their support, by going to facebook.com/morebrownbras and click LIKE, then going on Twitter and use the hashtag #WhatsYourNude. Email your favorite bra retailer or manufacturer. Spread the word to other women.

Cole Haan X Nike

Well, well, well, what do we have here? Could this be the shoe to encourage cats to step their grown man up or are we looking at a complete flop on the market? Cole Haan has teamed up with Nike in this creation of wingtips “on the run”. The shoe is designed in standard wingtip style with the sole of Nike’s Lunar running shoe. If someone would have described this shoe to me I would have immediately been perplexed and disinterested, but these images have my eyes wide open! From the design to the colorway I think this shoe is fly. Pair them with chinos or a slim jean and you will be set.

The LunarGrand Wingtip is set to release February 10th, 2012 at Cole Haan’s SoHo location for $248.00.

Ron English, self-describedMaster of POPaganda strikes powerfully with a guerilla campaign condemning children’s breakfast cereals and their high sugar, high fat content. Last October he cleverly placed satirical cereal boxes with overweight icons like Lucky and Dig Em the frog and titles like Sugar Frosted Fat on the shelves of L.A. grocery stores.

Now, meet Fat Tony. He’s expected to drop soon and in limited edition. Gotta love a toy that fights childhood obesity. Let’s just hope people get the message.

Los Angeles’ Gagosian Gallery is now hosting a collection of work from Damien Hirst, compiled of Spot Paintings that have been shown worldwide over the course of the last 30 years. Focused on his spot paintings, the comprehensive collection of work consists of over 300 borrowed pieces from 150 collectors from some 20 countries. Look Back At Nike’s Chinese New Year Air Force Ones

Nike honored the power and unique traditions of the Chinese New Year with the release of the Chinese New Year Air Force 1s “Year of the Horse” in 2002. Ten years later, Nike will release Chinese zodiac-inspired sneakers, the “Year of the Dragon” pack (via Nice Kicks) includes an Air Force 1 Low Supreme, Air Jordan 2012, Kobe VII System Supreme and Zoom KD IV. The “Year of the Dragon” includes four shoes to represent the Chinese dragon riding from the four ancient seas to offer good luck for the new year.

The first release, “Year of the Horse” was white and red and included the character for horse on the tongue and heel tab, a galloping horse on the insole. In the Chinese Zodiac, the horse is considered smart and popular.

The second release in 2003, “Year of the Goat” was an all-white sneaker with orange accents. There was a light icy outsole and an image of a goat. The goat represents calm dependability.

In 2004, The “Year of the Monkey” had a white leather upper with accents in brown, including the character for monkey and image of a monkey on the heel. The monkey is considered to be dignified and self-assured.

The “Year of the Rooster” in 2005 was the most subtle of the line in a simple shade of off white with an off white character of rooster on the heel with a white sole. Roosters are accurate and precise according to the Chinese Zodiac.

Vibrant colors, textures and patterns make “Year of the Dog” the most distinct of the series. With pony hair and colors that bring about memories of Miami Vice, this shoe is far from subdued. The standout features of this shoe make sense once you find out that dogs are known for their loyalty and attractiveness.

Last year, Nike released the “Year of the Rabbit” with suede upper, bright orange and varsity blue accents, clear sole and chenille logo and the bold rabbit on the heel tab. The warm colors are truly representative of the spirit of the rabbit. The rabbit is creative, compassionate and friendly.

“Stronger” Shades inspired by Kanye West

This crafty gentleman’s (via ch00ftech) brand new shades would put those cheap sunglasses that you wore on New Year’s Eve to shame. By adding some wire, a 9 volt battery, a mic and some other items, these glasses went from blocking the light to creating its own light show. Inspired by Kanye West’s “Stronger”, he and his friend Jordan create glasses that dance to the music.
