Last week I came across a web series that I fell in love with, just because of the name.  The Mis-Adventure of An Awkward Black Girl is the story of J., a quirky chick who navigates through life and love in awkward situations.  As one of the only comedic shows on the air with black female lead, the show is a mix of The Office, Parks & Recs and Community – a cluster of satire that I just can’t get enough of. You can officially call this post my late pass.

ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) just gave the salacious .xxx a domain back in March, but now the non-profit, global coordinator of the Internet’s naming system is looking to expand further. The group met earlier this week to to usher in a new Internet era with a major expansion of generic top-level domains. Next year, we can expect the likes of .law, .coke and .nyc. Let’s not tell the Braxtons, you know how they love to end everything with “.com.”

You’ve probably been following Pottermore on Twitter. But J.K. Rowling has been pretty tight lipped and stingy with her tweets. Well the wait is over. Head over to Pottermore now. Whatever awaits us, you know it’s going to be bloody brilliant.

This internet meme had been circulating the net for over a week, only for those in amazement to find out that it was all a hoax. The New Yorker became the first magazine to offer a digital in-app subscription via the iPad. Conde Nast president Robert Sauerberg Jr., announced that seven other publications under his empire — Vanity Fair, Glamour, Golf Digest, Allure, Wired, Self and GQ — will offer digital iPad subscriptions by the end of May.  Not even Oprah’s mag launches its in-app subscription service until July. And Time is still holding out.

“We are now first to market in selling subscriptions and very proud to be partnering with Apple in that process,” Sauerberg told me during a sit-down discussion, that included Apple vice president for Internet Services Eddy Cue and New Yorker editor David Remnick.

First music, then books, and now, as predicted comes the magazines and newspapers. Cherish your local book stores and newspapers, their future is on shaky ground.
