Today, music lovers and fans of Dilla celebrate the birthday of the late, great musical genius. This means playing Ruff Draft or Donuts and watching old videos for some. For others, it might mean watching “Still Shining” or making a purchase to support the J Dilla estate. ¬†Hopefully it won’t mean debates over who has the right to pay homage… Twitter gets ignorant on days like this.

Back in 2005, photographer Raph Rashid captured a few photographic gems of Dilla and used them in his book Behind the Beat: Hip-Hop Home Studios. One found itself on the Ruff Draft poster, another on last year’s Stussy shirt. Now, there’s the Behind the Beat poster. The 28 x 28 pic is a gem for collectors and the perfect gift for a fan.
