I am a soda addict. I have to have it with almost every meal, and it is almost a task for me to drink water.¬† So, when I came across the SodaStream system, I was highly intrigued, as it was a way to make your own soda at home, limiting trips to the store, as well as helping the environment.¬† The tag line here is that the SodaStream turns tap water into sparkling water in 30 seconds, and after months of reviewing the system…they are right.
We were sent the Fountain Jet Starter Kit to review, one of the lower end systems, but no less powerful, by any means.  If anything, you sacrifice the look of stainless steel or a sleeker design.  In this economy, the Fountain Jet is a perfect solution for anyone economically.  The Fountain Jet comes in three different colors, white, red or black, and is available on sale for 89.99.
The pack comes with everything you need to get started, if you only want to make sparkling water.  For me, who is constantly needing soda water on hand for baking and bartending, the value of that is enough.  However, if you want to take full advantage of the machine, you need to get some flavors as well.  Trust me, SodaStream has them all covered:
Though I am a soda addict, I am strict about the bubbly beverage when it comes to my kids.  However, the SodaMix Flavors make it easy for me to let my 7 year old cheat every once in awhile.  With no high-fructose corn syrup in the regular flavors, and no aspartame in the diet flavors they are a healthy solution to calm the soda fix.  I even sold my husband on the idea, since SodaStream offers an Energy Drink option, that has a little less kick than RedBull, but a little more than a Monster.
What happens when you run out of CO2?  You return your old, empty cans for new filled cans.  Another way to go green and help the environment.  Not to mention the tons of plastic bottles you are avoiding by brewing your own soda at home, in your SodaStream bottles.
