At 2pm I had the opportunity to sit down with one of the developers of the upcoming Clone Wars Adventures, which is Sony’s brand-new action-packed online game where you can experience the thrills and excitement of Star Wars‚Ñ¢: The Clone Wars‚Ñ¢ first hand. Battle it out with your friends alongside your favorite Star Wars characters like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and Ahsoka Tano.
With the abilities to play as a Jedi, Padawan or a Clone Trooper, the game takes it further, making it possible to personalize your character with interchangeable body features as well as outfits and accessories.  After you are done getting yourself set up, you can speed through space in Star Fighter, take out waves of Battle Droids in Tower Defense or test your brain with Droid Programming puzzles.

If you have ever seen Club Penguin, then you get the main idea…but trust me folks, this one is worth the membership.¬† Instead of missions, they have worlds.¬† Instead of kiddie graphics and 2D animation, this is a real-time internet, 3D beast.¬† Play alongside your friends, open an IM box or speak to the world, collect interactive pets and then spin the wheel everyday for a chance to win more coins.¬† Club Penguin and Moshi Monsters aint got shit on this.

Geared towards an audience of 6-14, the way the game’s set up feels like a tween’s dream.¬†¬† It truly looks like a lower level version of something like W.o.W.¬† However, don’t let the fancy graphics fool you, the game is dope but the parental controls are even doper. While peer to peer chatting is permitted, as is chatting in an open space, the words are carefully selected.¬† Sony doesn’t go through Webster’s Dictionary to filter their content, they have created their own.¬† And if your words [and combination of them as well] doesn’t fit into their acceptable terminology booklet, they wont be publish them.¬† Internet safety was pushed over and over again during the demo, and appears to be at the top of their priority list.
Personally, I can’t wait for this to be available to the gen-pop.¬† I am already plotting out which one of my son’s memberships we are going to cancel so we can join up with Clone Wars Adventures.¬† If you want to try it out, be patient my loves…it will be going live in the Fall.
