E3: Power Gig; Rise of the SixString Preview.

Rise of the SixString is the first installment in the newly launched series of Power Gig music games. By finally offering gamers the chance to play a real electric guitar РThe SixString РPower Gig is here to replace fake, 5-button guitar controllers forever.  It is meant to be a guitar first, creating teachable moments that kids are currently lacking in the music gaming industry.

The game takes place in a world called Ohm; and your job is to maneuver through the epic, rebellious journey to save Rock‚ÄôN‚ÄôRoll.¬† In play, the game is similar to Guitar Hero and Rock Band, with a little more electric pizazz.¬† Character design is equally as good as the genre’s predecessors, with multiple customization options.

The drums are a spectacle themselves, as they have a dual wireless construction.¬† Both the sticks and drum pads have sensors on them, making it so that you don’t have to physically hit the drum to get the note.¬† You can play with crossed arms, as aggressive as you want to, and add your own style.¬† Essentially, it makes the play more realistic.

If you are into the coming of age music games that are using interchangeable instruments in place of their plastic counterparts, then Power Gig’s Rise of the Six String might be a logical choice.¬† The song selection is wide, and it seems to be the front runner in this genre.¬† However, if you are looking for a guitar first and a game second, then you may want to check for one of the other games previewed at this year’s E3.
