I am not ashamed to say it. I WANT ONE. The new Canon T2i is freakin amazing! If you are a budding photographer, or just want to capture some family stuff with a camera that is fancier than a point and shoot, but not super huge, the T2i is a good bet. Just take a look at the specs:
- 18.0-Megapixel CMOS image sensor
- DIGIC 4 Image Processor
- Full 1080p HD EOS Movie Mode
- Full range of frame rates available in video mode
- New 7x Movie Crop mode at 640×480 (DVD Quality)
- New iFCL 63-zone, Dual-layer metering system
- ISO 100-6400 (Expandable to 12,800)
- New Wide 3.0″ LCD with 3:2 Aspect Ratio
- Ultra High-resolution 1.04 million pixel LCD resolution
- New SDXC memory card compatibility
And htat does not even mention the HD video. The folks over at CameraTown did a side by side comparison of the T2i ($799 Body only) vs the 7D ($1699 body only). Hop on over and take a look for yourself. From my very ameatur eye, the T2i looks good.

IF you are looking to shoot HD videos for the price this camera is excellent. It is comparable to the Canon 7d and half of the cost. Make sure you buy 16gb Sdhc cards or larger as recording in full 1080p uses a lot of space. Also the lens that comes with this camera is “average” and not very good. I would suggest buying the body only and saving up for a better lens ( not to much more) in the $300 price range. What the better lenses allow are able to shoot in less light and provide a further zoom range. Overall this is an amazing product but there is A LOT to learn, so take your time and enjoy.

Between me and my wife we’ve had more cameras over the months than I can remember, including many different Samsungs, Sonys, Canons and many more models. However, the last few weeks I’ve settled down to one line of devices. Why? Because I was happy to notice how well-designed and enjoyable the underrated (and widely laughed at) Canon EOS Rebel T2 actually is. With it I have been able to take the most amazing photos. That’s all I wanted to tell, hope you have a fantastic day and make sure to photo some cool photos!
