YouTube in Bb…A Musical Collaboration

I saw this over at Gizmodo.com, and must honestly say I am blown away. It is hard to explain, but it is  something really amazing that you must experience for yourself. I think Adam put it best:

The site is a grid of various YouTube videos, each a couple of minutes in length, each showing a musician playing a simple Bb major texture. You can play them in any order using as many as you like, starting some as others stop or having them all go at once. It’s remarkable. Seriously, don’t take my word for it, go check it out now. You won’t be disappointed.

p.s. Looks like you can get in on the project. Send Darren and email at info @ scienceforgirls dot net that meets the following guidlines

  • -Sing or play an instrument, in Bb major. Simple, floating textures work best, with no tempo or groove. Leave lots of silence between phrases.
  • -Record in a quiet environment, with as little background noise as possible.
  • -Wait about 5-10 seconds to start playing.
  • -Total length should be between 1-2 minutes.
  • -Thick chords or low instruments don’t work very well.
  • -Record at a low volume to match the other videos.
  • -You can listen to this mix on headphones while you record.
  • -After you upload to YouTube, play your video along with the other videos on this page to make sure the volume matches.
