What is your favorite 80s song?
I can only choose one song from the great golden era of the 80s? I don’t know if I can complete such a task. I don’t have one favorite, not with Michael Jackson, Prince and Madonna in the mix… Depending on the day, my answer will change. Today, I’d say MC Lyte, “Lyte as a Rock.” Tomorrow it could be Janet Jackson, “Control.” Catch me in an extra geeked mood, it could be New Edition’s “Candy Girl.”
How about the last dream you had?
Aw man, you have to ask this on the one morning where I didn’t forget last night’s dream. This is strange, but I was in an old elementary school gym with my man and for some reason we were playing freeze tag. And then we ended up in my Beetle having a serious conversation about feelings. The car had wings. Big Victoria’s Secret Angel wings. It was flying. So yes, my last dream proves to me why I shouldn’t have copious amounts of sugar before bed. No more bags of gummy cherries after 11 p.m.
Worst date you’ve been on?
I don’t consider it a date. But this guy asked me out via text message. I let my friends convince me he was just shy and agreed to go out with him anyways. They thought I needed to give him a chance and stop being such a homebody. Wrong answer. He picked me up in this tiny ass drop top on a windy day. He had on what looked like his little sister’s jeans and Omarion’s chapstick. He orderered a cheeseburger at the sushi joint and talked about himself the entire time. Oh, and he casually mentioned that needed to pick up his kid that evening. A kid I knew nothing about. A kid he said was more like a little sister. I promptly made my phone ring and invented a reason to go home. But I swear, I don’t consider it a date.
Hands down best internet experience?
Napster. When it was illegal. I was in college and we all felt like kids in a candy store. My computer was stocked with all kinds of music from Sade and Bjork to Rick James and Rakim. I’m surprised they didn’t shut me and my cousin down. We totally could have ended up in court with all the illegal file sharing we were doing
