The OWLE Bubo (OWLE = Optical Widget for Life Enhancement) is nothing short of a marvelous must-have for the camera collector/applehead/gadgetlover in your life.
As you can see, the iPhone just pops in and acts as a camera.¬†OWLE ¬†upgrades the 3GS by turning it into a full-service camera and camcorder. With it’s 37 mm wide-angle lens and Vericorder microphone it provides quality that the¬†phone does not achieve alone. This camera mount stabilizes the phone and keeps it safe with a rubber iPhone case. The OWLE ($129.95) itself is sturdy, made of anodized billet aluminum, you’d have to be determined to break it. The only downfall is it’s heavy. This is not something you can just throw in your purse, it’s serious business. Slap someone with this and they will be hurt. Not that I’m suggesting it be used as a weapon.
For true camera enthusiasts, it allows options like extra lighting, mics and more. And there are dozens of apps for it. But I tried it as is, right out the box.

Here’s a shot of some awesome paper flowers I took at a wedding two months ago with my iPhone. You can see the artistry in the flowers but the quality of the pic is grainy.
I took that floral centerpiece home with me, and shot them again with the OWLE. Look at how crisp the picture is. It’s crazy!
Owle shoots video and the mic allows for it to pick up on the smallest of sounds, like a dog gasping or even the sound of its squeaky toy. I took a few short vids of my dog to her displeasure.
