Jump Arounds aka The Fresh Beat Band.

Nickelodeon has a new show out called The JumpArounds. After watching the video a few times, I am a little bit disturbed by it LOL. I guess this is a true example of the evolution of hip-hop.

i have four children who like the show i honestly find it annoying that 30 year olds had to play that part why didnt they cast actual children to be the main characters in an actual childrens show im not hating the show but it seems they didnt put much thought or effort into this show.

You guys are crazy with those mean comments (painted down white dude).
The Fresh Beat Band is entertaining. My Son and I love their catchy tunes. Who cares if Adults don’t think they are talented.
All that matters is if the kids are happy and entertained.

who cares how much the jump arounds or fresh beat band sucks they are for childrens entertainment. my 3 your old twins LOVE them. they sing and dance with them. they are ment to entertain children not adults. besides to all those who hate….. i dont see you dancing on any national television show.

oh and to those who wonder why they didnt cast children actors and actresses.. ask that same question about 90%of the other kids shows out there. most voice over cartoons are adults, barney was an adult and had some adults actors, power rangers were adults, hip hop harry is an adult with many adult actors and this list can keep going. my twins find someone older acting silly and dancing and singing much more entertaining then a child actor. who cares who plays the parts. my kids love them and i am happy with that.

I have to admit that I was not a big fan of The Fresh Beat Band when I saw their music videos on Nickelodeon. However, my 3 year old loved them so I agreed to review an episode of their upcoming series. And although they’re still not my favorite group, my daughters loved the show and learned some valuable lessons from it. To me, that’s all that matters.

I just saw an episode today, and it’s not a masterpiece or anything, but it’s cute and the songs are (sort of) catchy and that’s all that matters to me. my daughter likes it, so i really don’t have any problems. sure, it’s a little cheesy, but a lot of kid’s shows are. no big deal.

Really people… if you don’t like it change the channel. The Bright clothes the nonsense lyrics the highly energetic group…GEARED TWARDS CHILDREN.Noggin is mostly younger kids shows anyways. You aren’t supposed to love it so much you want to get their faces tatooed on your body. My daughter loves them and i’d much rather her repeat the fresh beat’s stupid lyrics than innappropriate jokes smuggled into “children’s movies” now a days

ok y does every1 hate this group so much?!?! they r incredibly talented! btw it takes talent to know talent. i could give you my whole resume but that would take hours. not lying. so if i say are talented then they ARE. anywho, so what if they r corny? so what if their music vids come on all the time? at least they have talent unlike miley cyrus who is trying to take over the world 1 stripper pole at a time! sorry getting off track. but i didnt know it was such a crime to learn to sing and dance and have fun. so what if it is not the most educational show? it teaches character. which id rather befriend some1 who is nice rather than smart anyday. and let me say this is sad that i an 18 year old have to lecture a bunch of ppl who r getting gray hair. grow up.

I hate them the most. I am gonna wish on a star and wish for this: I wish that all of the shows that i hate are gone.
They should be called The Unfresh Beat Band. I f**king hate that Fresh Beat Band Commercial!!! OOBI FOR THE F**KING EPIC WIN!!!!

    1) It is for kids – little kids, so I guess our complaining is all for not, HOWEVER:
How weak can these producers be, can’t you use KIDS to do a KIDS show…not 20-30yr olds. Why do they have to be dressed in outfits that no kids dress in, not 2-5 yr olds nor 6-10 yr olds.
Of course with this sort of show, they will lip sinc..but the editiing is horrible and the production is very poor quality.
Like I said, it’s for kids, but I think the entire prouduction is not on trend with any kids these days, horribly overdone and if they would have just used KIDS as the main characters…it might actually be acceptable.

I have a 2 yr old and a 3 yr old… I admit at first I was kind of eh about them but they’ve grown on me and my DD’s LOVE them. I’d rather watch them then some of the other stuff Noggin offers… My DDs turn off the TV whe Yo Gabba Gabba comes on but My eldest will sing and dance when the Fresh Beats are on so my TV is now programmed to switch to them no matter what we are watching.

Even if I hated the show (like I do the Wiggles) I’d still watch it if the girls wanted to it’s not about me it’s about them, When they are awake it’s their TV time, it’s their background noise.

Lay off the Fresh Beats if you don’t like them and think it’s about you turn off your TV and do something with your kid, if you have no kids and hate them then you really need to change the channel it is a bit creepy.

Music has been shown to improve math skills and dancing is a way to keep fit, sounds good to me. The TV is not meant to educate my DD’s though… I am and if I was relying on TV to teach them (like some here appear to be doing) there would be something wrong with me as a parent.

First off let me say that all of you who are complaining about how bad you feel the show is are pathetic. It not geared for you no life adults who sit around and watch children shows so you can criticize them. It is geared towards children not adults. This show may be corny but most children shows with adults are corny. What’s really sad is that I’ve seen posts on here from people without children. GET A LIFE!!!!!!! GROW UP!!!

My children love this show. They like the music and the dance moves. My 4 year old son likes the music. Besides most of the songs also teach some of lesson (like friends helping each other out). It’s a positive, upbeat show that kids seem to enjoy and that’s all that counts. It doesn’t matter whether adults like it or not since it’s meant for preschoolers. So again I say get a life, job, hobbie, or something to pass the time because frankly it frightens me that grown adults with no kids are watching shows like this. Who knows what you all do in your spare time!!!

I have read numerous post that the Fresh Beat Band is geared toward preschoolers. However, can’t help but note in the ads for the show the audience is young adults. If this was actually for preschoolers shouldn’t the audience be young children. I have a two year old that loves the noggin channel. The ads for this show are annoying and I mute them as frequently as possible. The fact that the name of this band changed from The Jump Around Gang to the Fresh Beat Band in the middle of the promo phase is indicative that the feedback was awful. I am hopeful this show will fail soon so I can stop running for the remote.

I read your post as requested. It reads as if you are an 18 year old with a God complex. Apparently, your “resume” requires us old parents to hush and acquiesce to your superior insight. We should learn to accept that we are too ancient to be allowed an opinion. It must be wonderful to be 18 and to know you know it all.

I enjoy the show. Never knew it exsited until the commercials came on to promote it. My children love it. The show is meant to entertain our children not be picked apart for all its faults. It teaches our children to enjoy music, use their talents, be friendly, help each other, solve problems and just have a good time. That is what being a child is all about.
There is no swearing, sex, violence or hate. I don’t care how they produced the show, there is a lot more talent on that show then in most of your homes where you are just sitting at the computer complaining. Maybe our children should be the ones giving the reviews.
It takes guts to be on tv for all the world to see and critize who you are and everything you say and do. I give them a thumbs up and will enjoy watching them with my children for as long as the show airs.

I also think this site should be controlled because some of these vulgar posts are not nesessary. Not a lot of maturity being written on here.

I have not yet seen an episode of this show. I admit the numerous commercials have been annoying mostly because the number of ads is limited and the same ones are repeated numerous times per day. Also not sure this show is right for the noggin channel. Seems more appropriate for Nick. What I find a little odd is the feedback getting on others about sitting in front of computers complaining. Obviously, we are all sitting in front of our computers and this is a discussion. If everyone agreed what is the point.

What I don’t understand how we are so harsh on something geared toward children that help educated children and the children actually like. Some of the people complained about the how terrible the Freshbeats sound and what not, but here’s a stretch… your kids love to hear you sing and I’m quite sure some of you are no Whitney Houston. Small kids don’t have the same judgment and don’t see things the same way adults do. They don’t see a lame white rapper, a painted down black guy or a non dancing white girl. They see four people sing and dancing, solving problems, cooperating with each other and having fun. Something many of you who wrote in are struggling to be able to do. I think some of you who so critically bashed this group are jealous you didn’t get the job or you feel like you could do it better. You’re thinking, “I could do that! I can rap ten times better than that! Why is it not me?” One day it could be you if you learn to stop being so negative about something that in no way hurting or effecting you. There are so many programs on television that are so damaging and no one says little to nothing about that. Why? Because it’s appealing to your adult mind. Which would prefer your child to watch, the FreshBeats or FamilyGuy? Did you ever notice there’s a station dedicated to criminals? A station that shows nothing but crimes of robbery, murder, rape, etc. Why not worry about how to lessen crime than a kids show? Just make sure your child is not watching your adult shows and judging how nasty adults are because everytime you look up somebody is in somebody’s bed or kissing on somebody.

The reason I have questions about this group is that my daughter gets upset when it comes on her channel. I can not read the mind of a 2 year old girl. All I know is she screams “That is not right. That is not right.Change it! Change it! Get my toons back.” I know I will probably be flamed by the next pro Fresh Beat responder but sorry to say there is definitely at least one child that does not enjoy the show.

My daughter is 2 so Disney, Nick, Noggin, ect ect is always on…Nickelodeon ha been beating this train wreck of a group into our heads for a couple months now. They even changed their name from the Jump Arounds (note, the name change cannot change their nonexistence of talent) This group of teenie bopper children are worse than Milli Vanilli. Why the white kid has been the designated rapper is beyond me…None of them can dance, the lip singing is off and is just downright awful…I could go on…..

wanttoseethat, I am sorry I can’t help you out. I am not a typical 2 year old’s mom. There is over 20 years between my oldest and youngest. Yes, same Dad. I am not technically knowledgeable enough. It is funny to see I admit. Maybe some of you all could educate us older parents or direct us to a site that covers this type of stuff. Before my oldest went to college I might have been able to get him to assist. He is actually the one that told me about these discussions. Said it was fun and a stress release. This is actually my first time leaving a comment. Also you can imagine not much free time with a two year old on the go. Sorry about my lack of skills.

People need to stop hating on the Fresh Beat Band, or Da Beat, as my son calls it. I have 22 month old twins who LOVE this show. Yeah, it’s corny, but my kids love it. It is the only show they have ever actually watched. I can now have almost 30 minutes without a toddler in my face. It’s great! And it’s not just a mindless show where they sit and stare at pretty colors on the screen. They get up and sing and dance around the room during the show. Any show that keeps my kids entertained and encourages them to move around and exercise is A-okay in my book. The show has even helped my son to learn new words. He tends to be behind his twin sister in vocabulary, but since he started watching the show I’ve heard him sing the last 2 words of verses from the songs he hears often. It’s very cute.

  32. September 16, 2009 at 5:12 pm #

If you would rather teach your children about racism, negativity, global warming, and the general unhappiness and dissatisfaction of adult life in the world today, then go ahead. This is your prerogative. Tell them how "racially insulting" the Fresh Beats are because, by all means, the stereotypes of society should be first and foremost in childrens' programming. That black boy is not black enough, and the white boy is trying too hard to BE black. The white girl is too skinny, but if she wasn't she'd be too fat. They are all too pretty and none of them can dance. And somehow all of this is more important than the underlying message: get off your lazy little butts and dance! Sing! Be happy!

For crying out loud, folks. Stop trying to read so much into this show. I have a lot of respect for these people who are trying to get our lethargic, screen-addicted children to move around, be more active and possibly begin to reverse the ever-expanding trend of obesity and poor health in this country. Somehow the fact that they dress the same and are always smiling and are viewed by many adults to be shallow and boring is secondary to the fact that this is a children's show. It is not created for the purpose of solving the world's problems, but rather to inspire little ones to dance, sing and enjoy life.

It's got a WHOLE lot more educational value than SpongeBob, in any case. I would let my children watch ten FBB episodes in a row before I'd let them watch fifteen seconds of SpongeBob. That, folks, is the problem with our kids… you'd rather let their brains liquefy in front of that meaningless crap, which you defend because "everyone ELSE does it!" How is it that you can stomp around all offended by the Fresh Beats when you find no problems with the utter lack of substance in something like SpongeBob? I personally find the screaming, condescending, poorly-animated Dora & Diego shows to be some of the most irritating programming on TV, but you know what? My kids actually get something from it. So they are occasionally allowed to watch it, and the Fresh Beats, and even (gasp) shows like Little Bill and Ni-Hao Kailan. The rest of the time, our TV is off. Then my kids play out the lessons they learn from the various educationally-based shows they're permitted to view… and the lessons sink in through actual physical activity.

Maybe there's a lesson there for the parents, too.

My kids love this show but I think it is so over the top they look like they’re on energy drinks. Also how old are these people they look tired and wore down. They are trying way too hard; obviously they are only here to get their own acting or singing deals. They have way too much energy, and what are they teaching it is confusing because hip hop is not what they are representing as a matter of fact it’s an insult to the hip hop culture, and I don’t think its pop either. Get them off please!

this show is terrible. yes…yes…yes I know it's not for adults , it's for little kids. Preschoolers. Yeah. You know what … it's frickin" awful. There is definitely a fakeness… an attempt at an innocuoussness that I sense is planned so that there will be parents outthere that say: "it is for little kids, don't be so uptight my kids love it. it makes them jump around."
Well! My reply that is this: it's crap. Sure they may be talented in their church choir at home… hey, maybe each and every one of them graduated with honors from Juliard. Who cares. The show lacks any sense of real showmanship and style. You think little children want to be exposed to this? Arguably, they are children and they haven't formed their brains and minds just yet. However. … as parents we should not expose them to something just because it is ( seemingly ) harmless and ( seemingly ) innocuous.
This shows blandness offends me. And yes that black guy ( who has most certainly been whited down ) is just maybe the world's worst rapper. ( His 'whiteness' is almost a kneejerk reaction to the history of hip-hop. It is Like the people that made this were so scared of offending anyone that they drained the juice right out of this guy and the show. Maybe I am (like some of the retorts to this comment are going to say) a jerk or an ass or … something to the effect that I ' ve missed the point of this show… and maybe I am and perhaps they're right… wrong. But something deep on a visceral level strikes me as completely wrong and offensive about the blandness of this show. What good is talent if you do not use it. so these 4 kids? could be the 4 best singer dancer whatevers in the world… the show still sucks. and I wont be letting my kids have to experience it.

I see no problem with this show at all. Not the rapping white guy, the "painted down" black guy, or the "too skinny and pretty" girls. This show is about children, about teaching them an appreciation for music and getting them up off of their feet to JUMP AROUND a little bit. Our world is plagued by child hood obesity, so I cannot fathom why getting kids off their bottoms and exercising would be a bad thing. Yes, the music is a bit like cotton candy, it rots your teeth, but that's what children of the preschool age like. My son loves this show, especially Loco Legs, and I can get their songs stuck in my head all day. I have to say that this is a lot better than some of the other shows on the same channel…. If you don't like the show, then turn the channel. You are ultimately responsible for what your child(ren) watch on the television, so if this show bothers you so much… quit complaining about it… and just turn the damn channel. Enough said.

The people making a big deal out of this show are a bunch of BUMS!!!!!!! You gotta be kidding me!!!!!!! Who cares if they arent michael jackson dancers, You guys are just JEALOUS!!!!!!!!! My 8yr old, 3yr old and 9 month old baby get excited when it comes on. I was horrified when I saw the previews for this show – it is horribly embarrassing to watch. That said, my four-year-old really likes it and responds to the over-the-top acting and dreadful musical routines. He even likes the gangly white rapper…

As parents we've been pretty spoiled. Programmers listened to the desperate pleas of mothers forced to listen to the Barney song over, and over and started to develop a lot of shows that are fun for kids while also palatable for adults (Penguins of Madagascar, Fairly Odd parents, SpongeBob, Barnyard ). This one doesn't quite meet that criteria. I guess we parents will have to grit our teeth and deal. The rest of you should just switch over to another channel. :)

I can not believe there are this many posts about a childrens show. My God, my two kids 4 and 2 love it. Isn't that all that matters? I dont think it aims to please the parents. And why should it we are grown up , they are children. Overall its a good show for the kids. Oh and for all the people crying about the white dude rapping and the black guy acting white well you'll never be happy bc if it was the black guy rapping you'd still try and pull the race card and say he was gangster and wwhy does the black guy always have to be portrayed as that. My three year old grandson loves this show. He is really watching Marina play the drums and he has started patting his foot in time to the music at the right time. As usual you have a bunch of haters putting there nose where it doesn't belong. And by the way I have never heard a three year old say gee that black dude looks …. My son and daughter love this show. Both them dance to the songs. I think these four individuals have a lot of talent. I think actually Shout, Marina, and Kiki have most of it though. The range in their voices is great. People that know music know that children learn a lot from music and rap (kids type rap). It seems kids pay attention when music is involved. Any comments on skin color is an adult thing not a child's. Thank God our children are smarter than adults in that department. Just because a black man is handsome and clean cut, you assume he is a painted white man. Sorry but you have issues. There are many beautiful people in all nationalities, open your eyes…

And that is what these dumb shows are for . I mean think about all the crazy annoying shows we watched as kids…..just take a moment and remember………HA HA it got ya huh…..Leave FBB alone….i am just proud that they have the talent to teach my child and give her the exposure to music that she will soon be denied(public schools are condisering taking music out of the school enviroment)….So just deal with it PPL!!!!!!

I have been a fan of upbeat, uplifting "sugarpop/bubblegum" music since the mid '60s. When I listen to vocal music I don't want to hear some multimillionaire whining about how terrible his life is. I invariably find those who hate it have almost no demonstrable musical knowledge.

to tell you the truth I love it this is made for kids not for adults and my son love it he is just 2 yrs. old and he is into music I don't understand why people have to make everything racial or be so critical, to methey have talent like I said this is a show for PRE-SCHOOLERS. I hear some music that doen't make sense and repeats over and over and yet this people have millions of dollars because of all of us who buy their music while the majority of us live paycheck by paycheck. this is for toddlers to enjoy something clean and energetic many parents put their children to listen to garbage and then we ask why are this children out of control ther is a time for everything, all of you passed this time let children enjoy their with clean music gentle enough for their little ears.
