Why is everyone bashing the Fresh Beat Band? I think they're extreamly talented and my kids, and all my neices and nephews love them! I always hear people saying bad things about them, but what about all the other kid shows? Like Dora with Swpier and all the other strangers she talks to all the time. To me thats showing kids that if someone they dont know comes up to them and starts talking to them they can just talk right back and be friends with them. Everyone shouldnt be bashing on The Fresh Beat Band. If you dont like them dont watch them. There are plenty of other shows you can bash that actually deserve it. And if the show was so bad it wouldnt have any views and it would be off the air so I suggest everyone should just keep their stupid opinions to themselfs because honestly no one cares.

A few small changes were easily handled and now I am the very proud owner of the jacket. Unfortunately, it is now summer and 30+ weather prevent me from wearing it. I can hardly wait for cooler weather so I can show off the great jacket

I love this show!!! It gives me the time to bond with my children like dancing; singing, laughing & exercise helps the kids stay in shape! ? Bible verse of the day: Luke 6:42 “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye.”

Hahaha. Anyone who was able to type more than one paragraph about why they hate this show, has entirely too much time on your hands. It's not supposed to be an intellectual show. It's for toddlers people. Some of the detail that was provided by the haters only proves one thing, that you watch the show enough to pick up on these details. Seriously. Shut up and just don't watch it. If your life is that boring that you have to take the time to vent about The Fresh Beat Band, then I'm very sorry for you.

People, don't you have anything better to do than to criticize children's shows with no apparent benefit? This show is for CHILDREN. Yes it is corny. That is what children's programming is like to adults, since we have to deal with reality and responsibility. Let's not take the fun away from our kids. Yes it could be a better representation of race, but th see that you have to address a variety of children's shows. One show cannot cover all races and issues. This show is about music. It teaches musical concepts and covers many different types of music. The characters are students of music, always polite, and I for one am happy to have my son watch. We are a modern and diverse mix of African American and Hispanic families. FBB is not sending any bad message nor is it limiting to my 3 year old. He has plenty of time to learn about more legit Hip Hop. Sadly, there is little out there that is appropriate for children anyway. So if you don't like the Fresh Beats, don't watch. Stop being negative and interruping positive flow!

Get a life the only opinions that matter are the TV execs at Nick and its target audience, the kids. My daughter loves it so I suffer through it almost once a day. if you don't have kids and your watching this show you have a strange taste in TV or your a lifeless adult that needs to get out more.

I watch 2 children (7 and 1) who love this show. There is no way, shape or form any stereotyping, it seems like the show goes out its way to make sure of it. For example the Hispanic girl loves opera, the Caucasian girl loves country, the black guy likes rock and the white guy like anything that makes music. Again guys this show is aimed at kids so the rapping isn't gonna be something that little kids can't pick up themselves neither is the dance moves. Every type of music has been covered on this show, including Hawaiian, and though it may not be the best singing I would much better have my niece and nephew listen to this then any music out these days. Instead of judging the singing why don't you listen to the words? You might learn something new

I find it quite sad how people do not have anything better in life to do than to sit on a website and bash a children's show. It is not intended to keep adults entertained...it was created for the children. If it wasn't successful than the show wouldn't be on the air. Quit criticizing the show. I have a little boy who loves the show and I am not going to tell him he can't watch it because I don't like it. If it interests a child that's all that should matter.

I think the people with negative comments sound ridiculous! First of all, it is a show on Nick Jr, meaning it is meant for toddlers. Over analyzing the show is stupid. They aren't professionals completely, I'm pretty sure this is thier first acting gig. But the 4 main characters on the show are far from stupid. Shout graduated from Yale with a B.A in Theatre Arts. Marina actually turned down a scholarship to Berkely to pursue an acting and singing. If you ask me, that is dumb because a degree is guarenteed, an acting/music career is not. These adults are doing a wonderful job keeping children entertained. Not only that, children that watch the show are learning all about music, different types of music to, not just hip hop. Their are learning about instruments, working with others, caring and much more. I much rather have my daughter watch this, than anything inappropiate. For example the show Max and Ruby. I think that show shouldn't even be shown. Ruby is always bossy to her little brother. I think the show will just teach a kid to be a bully.

Mydaughterlovesthisshow
Mydaughterlovesthisshow

My daughter loves this show too. There isn't any other show on TV that has her this excited about anything. She sings to it, she dances with it and would honestly watch it 24/7 if we'd let her. She has liked other shows on TV, but not like this. She loves music, she loves dancing. The colours are bright and the people are easy for her to relate to. She wants to be Marina and play the drums. I'd rather that then most other famous people in the world today. The music isn't that bad...I'd rather listen to the Fresh Beats than most of the crap playing on the radio right now. Seriously, there are a ton of adults "pretending" to be young; TV is full of them - Glee, 90210, Gossip Girl, etc. The Fresh Beats are nice to others, love to dance and sing and the show has people of all shapes, sizes and colours. Quite frankly, I can't understand what the problem is. The show isn't made for adults, it's made for kids. Get over it and maybe your kids will start to enjoy being silly and having fun! Don't take life (and everything in it) so seriously!!!

I think most ppl are missing the point. These shows on nick jr are not for the entertainment purposes of adults. Are the storylines a bit outlandish and corney? Yes. But the purpose of that is for the children to point out what's abnormal or doesn't belong in a scenario. This show goes beyond music lyrics. They present scenarios in which the children learn to solve problems and resolve conflicts with their peers in a constructive manner. Can they better lyrics. Yes. Could they have gotten better singers. Yes. But the focus of this show is to grab the attention of toddlers. My son loves this show. I personally wouldn't watch it myself but hey its not for me!

My 2.8 year old girl loves the fresh beat band. Before having her, I never liked the idea of adults entertaining children, but now that I see these shows, I see the dedication and energy these people put in the shows. all to entertain our children and teach them something along the way. it's more than some parents do with their own children. If anybody doesn't like them, DON'T WATCH THEM!!! and talent or not. if you want your child to learn about good music and stuff, send them to a music school. these shows are for entertainment only. or you expect your child only to learn school things from these shows as well? no, you send them to school!!! Free choice... WATCH OR LET WATCH

First let me say that my 3 yr old can't seem to pull herself away from this stupid show, my 8 yr old thinks they can sing (individually)and she seems to like them alright. My 13 yr old, my husband and I just watch it like "Oh WOW are they really that out of style?" My 13 yr old thinks they are stupid, disgraceful, and embarrassing. To be more detailed my husband and I have broken it down like this... Shout, the black guy looks like he is in pain and wished he could be apart of something better but is stuck with the most ridiculous sayings and clothes that you would never find a real black person wearing and he is dying to break out out in a soulful song. The white guy looks like he is trying so hard to keep up with the simplistic dance steps, he looks like he is really about to fall over his two feet. As far as his clothes goes, he would wear his outfit in the real world. Marina, the white girl looks like she has a joker smile frozen and when she dances she is so stiff. Even her ending pose looks like the choreographer just gave up and let her stand all awkward. Not to mention I can't see her telling her mom "hip hop and pop", it just doesn't fit her, realistically. Finally Kiki, the Spanish girl, well I think she looks like a Spanish Jennifer Love-Hewett.When I first heard her voice, I just couldn't believe she could sing that deep, guess I was wrong. So her singing is good but her clothes??? Why is she dressed like a can can dancer with high tops. When she dances it looks like she is dying to break out and show up the others, but she can't. SO she's trapped too. Simply....as a family we all agree that the costume designer, the writers and the choreographer all need to be replaced. Even my 8 yr old thinks that, and not because we say any of this out loud in front of her or my 3 yr old. We don't want our opinions to persuade either one of them. The funny thing is this, Thomas Hobson is Shout and he actually graduated from Yale and majored in Theater. Shayna Rose,Marina seems to have had very minor roles that never lasted long on any show. Yvette, Kiki has a fairly accomplished career in theater and has a well built resume'. John Beavers, Twist, well I couldn't find anything on him...NOTHING. I say all that just to show why 2 of the people have some talent but they are trapped and restrained by whom ever for whatever reason AND the other 2 are awkward for the lack of experience and talent. I really hope Nick figures something out. Kids like the show but it is painfully uncomfortable for the parent(s) to join in with their kids watching it. Pleaseeeeeee Nick deliver us from the pain of the Fresh Beat Band, change their clothes, their dance and their songs...make these adults acting like kids be a little more realistic and bearable. PLEASEEEEE Nick!!!!

My 3 year old doesn't like it at all!! I think that they don't have good writers in the show, it is unfortunately boring it needs a little more, they tried to do the same concept as Hi-5 with the songs and dancing, but still short. :(.

my son is 1 and he loves the show he has watched since he was 6 months. I don't see anything wrong with she show. My son will stop what he is doing to watch and i sing along with the show to him. So anyone who says this show sucks remember NickJr is for KIDS ONLY!!!!

This show annoys the hell outta me and the white guy is the most annoying...does he even sing? My daughter loves it so I just grin and bear it. It is less annoying than some of the other shows on Nick Jr. I think the music is catchy, but the show is eeeeeeeeek.

I just read almost all of yalls comments.. I was just doing an internet search on why the fresh beat band was the jumparounds... and why they had to change their name.. then I stumble upon this site.. wow guys. I am a young mommy with 2 lil girls aged 3.5 and almost 2. my girls personally dont care for it, but its a matter of opinion. If your child likes it then they'll watch it, if they dont, they wont. Why has this become such a drawn out issue for parents to gripe about, lol!! and why is it any of your concern? they aren't promoting violence, drugs, sex, crimes... they are wholesome kids who look like they're havin fun, and that shows! people need to relax a bit and focus on yourselves & your kids. life is too short to stress yourself about silly stuff that doesn't even directly affect you. O, n come on yall, is this the 1800's?! wth are we STILL talkin about skin colors for, as if that makes us different from one another?? we all bleed red. stop stereotyping others and look in the mirror. -jess

You all need to just get a life and get over it. Both of my sons, 5 1/2 and almost 2 LOVE IT!!!!! So they all don't have the most incredible voices but the songs are upbeat and they all work well together. It is for the kids and guess what....I like it too. I am a singer and enjoy it so I don't get it! If you don't like it, that is your opinion and we all have the right to our own opinion. My opinion is that this show is great and even better because my children enoy it and learn from it. My other opinion is that those who have a neagtive opinion should keep it to themselves.

I'm finding it hard to fathom why some are so vitriolic about this show! My two-year-old granddaughters love it. The tunes are catchy and bright, and WAY better than those on shows like Yo Gabba Gabba. The characters are wholesome and non-threatening. The dancing gets kids moving. There are no furry-costumed or cheaply animated monsters, thank goodness. Who really cares which actor plays the rapper? Bottom line: it's for little kids, and they are engaged by the show.

Alicia

I think you people who are slamming on the show because of your political views about racism are just ridiculous. 1st of all this show is NOT for YOU it is for the kids. and Secondly your just teaching your children to buy into stereotypes and to censor there lives from that which is different. My son happens to love the show. He dances and sings along and laughs and enjoys himself. That's the point and for that reason alone the show is played in our house regardless of if I enjoy the songs. I happen to enjoy the fact that the "token black guy" doesn't do the wrapping and is a bit on the nerdier side. I hate stereotyping and those of you whom are upset that there's a token black guy and also upset that he doesn't look black enough are idiots because you're contradicting yourselves. They play all different kinds of music and teach children about tempo and instruments and lots of musical and non musical things. As long as my son enjoys it he'll be able to watch it. He also enjoys yo gabba gabba and little bill (which has nothing to do with music) Oh and for those of you whom are going to say something racial and stupid towards me. I'm multi racial black being one and hispanic also and my husband is white. We've heard it all and we don't really care.

Nickelodeon should get me to write lyrics for these guys, I'll get them stomping the house alright. My daughter has been watching Noggin/Nick Jr. since she was born. She loves this even more now that's she is older and absorbing better. Yes, I break it down with her when any Fresh Beat Band or any promo that is playing. I know all the words to anything Nick Jr. now. I approve of this show and it is not rap or hip hop, this is Alternative Hip/Hop at most.

Me & my daughter love this show. She wants to play the drums, guitar and be Twist. If the show keeps the kids occupied let them watch it just to get things done for a half hr. I wish they would come out with the dvds already. It is a cute show and i like Twist. He is a cuttie.

There does seem to be a lot of unnecessary venom about this, and I agree, if you don't like it, don't watch. Yet still... they keep playing little clips of it between shoes on Nick Jr, so it's hard to avoid while waiting for Max and Ruby. And it does get on my nerves something fierce. It smacks of the shameless formulaic nonsense that is so often offered; a waste of time and money. The music chosen for shows like this suggests that the only kind of music out there is water-downed hip-hop. I don't care for that style anyway and they're not even doing justice to the original style. I wish that more had been done with the Choo-Choo Soul shorts that used to fill gaps in Disney Channel programming... that was a great example of how another style of music could be made suitable for children without ruining the form (I mean, there are a billion folk songs for kids, bubblegum pop, but soul? Not so much). I don't like soul usually but I liked the songs they did. I, too, am personally creeped out by the grown-ups acting as kids. Mind you, I wouldn't suggest having kids instead... every kid entertaining my kid on tv is one more kid stuck out in front of the public eye, working for a living and potentially exciting the interest of some perv watching at home. I'd rather not see kids put at risk that way. That said, there's a right and wrong way for adults to act in a kid's show. Consider the Blue's Clues example. There was just something about Steve Burns. He looked fairly foolish standing there asking kids to tell him things any idiot could see for himself... until he moved on and the New Guy came in. "Joe" would have done alright if he'd been the first one, maybe, but after Steve, with his way of speaking to the kids, Joe was just not good enough. I wondered what the difference was as my kid steadily lost interest in the show and began to notice certain distinctions. Joe grinned all the time. His eyebrows were usually raised so high you almost couldn't see them anymore and every time he got the audience "response" out came that doofy, nodding grin, so overdone you expected him to snort any second. He just looked like he was going to. Steve, however, didn't seem to be under so much strain to please, no ingratiating grin every single time he got an answer... It's something we've all seen in school. The teacher who treats you as an equal in a genuine fashion, somehow inspiring your respect so that you never think of giving them grief, versus the teacher who is trying to relate to your on your level by "speaking your language" and is just trying too danged hard to be taken seriously. It's a cliche. And the Fresh Beats Band suffers from it. The girls grin all the time. When they sing and dance, they all grin, grin so hard that you can't see their eyes anymore! That seriously weirds me out. Yes, your eyes are affected when you smile, but I don't remember the last time I saw a real person smile so big they closed their eyes completely. And finally, the dance moves get on my nerves. The best explanation I could come up with for it is that it reminds me of our old cheerleading squad and dance line in high school. I guess I prefer to watch little kids cut loose and dance the way they want. I had my fill of watching tween girls trying to copy stiff little motions about 25 years ago. So I guess I've given it way too much thought, too. I just wondered, as my 3 year old scrambled toward me in a panic crying, "Change the channel!" (seriously) why it was that this innocuous simple little show irritated me so much. Well, it's just annoying is all. And I'm the type who looks for specifics so I found some. That said, watch it if you enjoy it. That's just a list of reasons why we don't.

I hate this show with a passion, but my 1 year old loves it, so I have to sit there in pain listening to them sing and act a fool. The white boy annoys the heck out of me! He acts like a freakn retarded with a squeaky annoying voice and always says the dumbest things while bumping and falling into everything. The girl with the black hair looks like a rat with a wig on. The black guy looks bought out... and looks like he painfully says his lines. The white girl is like the most normal out of all of them but just as stupid to have participated in the show! I really hope that they cancel this show!!!! Like sometime today!!!

My 3 year old twins love to watch this show because they don't know any better. I think it's absolutely horrible. The actors/singers are not the slightest bit talented and ridiculously corny. The show's creators/producers should go to YouTube and take a long look at Kids Incorporated. The show wasn't phenomenal, but it puts The Fresh Beat Band to shame!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, the songs on The Fresh Beat Band are meant for children between the ages of 1 and 6. However, if you introduce their young, influential minds to mediocracy in music, then they will continue to believe that this level of talent (or lack thereof) has quality. Distracting them for 23 minutes shouldn't be the draw. If the show intends to teach them music / dance appreciation, then give them something of substance and quality to appreciate.

I was looking up this band & came across all these message boards with adults complaining about how much they suck, yadi yadi yadi blah blah blah. I love this band, not because the music or their style but because the way my 3 year old daughter jumps up starts to dance & sing every time they come on TV. Guess what people, that's why they're on. The KIDS love the upbeat music & dancing & the messages are positive as it should be for toddlers. Personally, I can't stand Yo Gabba Gabba but my daughter loves that as well so I will put it on for her. Good grief!

Yeah the Show is geared toward kids and my 4 year old daughter hates and says that they are "embarassing" Her words...not mine. to tell you the truth I love it this is made for kids not for adults and my son love it he is just 2 yrs. old and he is into music I don't understand why people have to make everything racial or be so critical, to methey have talent like I said this is a show for PRE-SCHOOLERS. I hear some music that doen't make sense and repeats over and over and yet this people have millions of dollars because of all of us who buy their music while the majority of us live paycheck by paycheck. this is for toddlers to enjoy something clean and energetic many parents put their children to listen to garbage and then we ask why are this children out of control ther is a time for everything, all of you passed this time let children enjoy their with clean music gentle enough for their little ears.

I have been a fan of upbeat, uplifting "sugarpop/bubblegum" music since the mid '60s. When I listen to vocal music I don't want to hear some multimillionaire whining about how terrible his life is. I invariably find those who hate it have almost no demonstrable musical knowledge.

Totally agreed. Geez people. Relax! Who cares what they wear?! Who cares what age they are?! It's entertainment for kids. There's nothing offensive about these people - there isn't any cleavage, there isn't any violence, they're not strung out. Sure, they're a little contrived, but kids don't know what that means. Unless of course, you teach them to be affected by minutia. Why teach them to pick apart all the good things in life to leave them complain about everything and enjoy nothing? Calm down.

Completely agree! The FBBand are not my favorite on nickjr but I'd rather have my son watch that than a violent cartoon. He sings some of the songs and watches the first fifteen minutes before he decides he wants to play with his bowling pins. And if he's sitting down and it's on, I get him up, jump up and dance with him....and he laughs his lil butt off and all is right in the world. OH and Nickjr and Disney need more shows like Word World and Super Why on their channels...
