Gavin Paros, now 30-years old, was taken from his mother when he was just three-years old. His father, who had visitation rights, told his mother he was taking him to the zoo. That was in 1982. Instead, his father took him to Budapest in defiance of a court order, never to be heard of again.
Despite appeals via the Hungarian embassy in London and the British embassy in Budapest and an appeal to Margaret Thatcher, then the Prime Minister, Mrs Grube heard nothing more of her son.
It wasn’t until October of 2008 that his Aunt found him on Facebook. She searched for his name and he popped up. So she decided to send him a message just in case it was actually her nephew. It took Gavin three weeks to check his page, but when he did, he quickly replied with his phone number. Mother and son were finally reunited this past Thursday.
