Angels Chocolate Shoppe Caramel Apples [Review & Giveaway]

il_fullxfull.94143282

Angel’s Chocolate Shoppe is a mother/daughter team of chocolatiers who have been perfecting their craft and providing desserts for over ten years.¬† Two years ago they decided to take their love for dessert and turn it into a business, providing delectable goodies for people all over the country.

Recently, Angel’s sent us a four pack of their apples to try, containing some of their most loved varieties. ¬† Since this item is perishable, it was sent USPS with a signature required, and packed accordingly.¬† Angel’s stayed in constant contact with me to make sure that my apples arrived not only safely, but in great condition for our enjoyment.¬† ¬† The apples were delivered at the one time slot of time that I was out of the house [doesn't that always happen with signature deliveries?] so I ended up picking up the apples from the Post Office the next day.¬† Aside from a bit of design distortion on one of the apples, THEY WERE PERFECTLY IN TACT.

The apples I received were two Halloween specials, an Original and a Toffee.  The Original is perfect for the apple lover; it is your traditional Caramel Apple, made with gourmet products.  The caramel used is a homemade robust caramel, and then it is mixed with fine Merkens chocolate.  The Toffee is my favorite of the four, with the same caramel and chocolate covering but rolled in chunks of toffee for the Heath Bar lover.

Here are some of the EXTREME PROS of these apples:

  • The apples are HUGE.¬† When I mean huge, I mean each one measures roughly 4 inches in diameter.
  • Unlike most candied apples, the toppings actually stays on the apple, even when sliced with an apple corer or slicer.¬† I cannot stand when you slice the apple, or bite into it and the whole thing falls apart.
  • The packaging is perfect for gifting.¬† Each one comes in a white gift box with a clear window frame, and a hole on the top for the stick.
  • The topping layer is actually extremely thick.

Overall, the apples were not only extremely delicious, they tasted like a quality dessert.  The apples themselves were very fresh, and the chocolate was luxurious.  While not a ton of varieties are listed in the shop, they can be done with tons of different options [m&m's, toffee, coconut, peanut butter pieces, or plain chocolate].

I always liked the candy apples with the hard sugary shell. My husband loves Caramel Apples. I sometimes bake him a caramel apple pie with pecans that he adores, so I would have to say that, when it comes to caramel apples, caramel and chopped pecans are the preferred toppings in this household.

I love my caramel apples (preferably honeycrisp) topped with caramel and finely crushed walnuts :)
If I want something even richer I dip the apple in caramel, then chocolate and then add the walnuts. YUM!

Oh if I could choose different ones for all four I'd get 2 with m&ms, 1 toffee, and 1 coconut ~~ perhaps an exception could be made and one could have marshmallow and graham crackers – like smores ooh yum

Those candy apple look great. Could decorate them even more with different color Merckens.
We use the candymelter palette to keep all our colors clean and away from water.
