In Girl Scouting, it’s calling doing a good turn, in the rest of the world, it’s plain old karma. BookCrossing is the act of leaving a book in a public place for someone else to hopefully pick it up and enjoy it. Registered books have a BCI in them, instructing the finder to go online and mark the book as found. It’s an interesting message in the bottle/pay it forward concept that has caught on world wide. BookCrossing has found itself in over 100 countries and it’s site gains roughly 300 members a day.

I love the idea, but what keeps some lame individual from just tossing the book in the garbage? I mean, I certainly wouldn’t but does that ever happen?

Or did someone ever leave a virus or disease in a book for someone to get up on??? Hmmm, I don’t know.
