VinylTap is an eccentric Etsy shop selling re-crafted items of the past. While they specialize in using items that had a previous use i.e. buttons, typewriter keys etc, what really caught my eye were the handcrafted bowls made from popular records.

Each bowl is one of a kind, made from a record that has survived decades. From Styx to Earth Wind & Fire, VinylTap can make whatever your heart desires.
VinylTap has offered to give one lucky NerdLike reader one of their Vintage Record Bowls. The winner can choose from the following artists: Louis Armstrong, The Beatles, The Eagles, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, or The Kinks.
ENTRY: Leave a comment below telling us what the first record you owned was.
EXTRA ENTRIES: Tweet this giveaway and leave the status update below.
The winner will be chosen on June 13th at 10pm PST.

I can’t remember if the first record I owned was Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” or this Woody Woodpecker album I had around the same time. Every single morning, I made my parents play one or the other while I got dressed and ate breakfast. I think my folks got tired of hearing them, because they both acquired mysterious scratches as time went on.
The worst was the scratch on my Thriller album, because it was right during the breakdown on “Human Nature.” Mike would hit that note, then it would just keep repeating, like “AAAHHH WHHHHYYYYY…AAAHHH WHHHHYYYYY…AAAHHH WHHHHYYYYY…AAAHHH WHHHHYYYYY…”
You get the idea…
Don’t remember what the album was called but it was some Strawberry Shortcake book on vinyl with songs. Got it when I was like 3yrs old and Mom says I wore it out listening to it so much. LOL

My first record was the Muppets with Kermit singing “Its not easy being green” but the first tune I owned was Eric B. and Rakim Paid In Full! Massive Record and I knew it was a classic and I still own that album along with at least 7000 others that are still in good condition (ex Dj)!
