Dell continues to fight the battle of AIDS globally with their (PRODUCT) RED artwork for the Dell StudioTM laptops. With a selection of 4 superb designs to choose from, there is something for everyone to personalize their laptop as well as donate to a wonderful cause…saving lives. My favorite is the Mike Ming rendition, with Siobhan Gunning coming in a close second.

Hi Kutty and Jazzy,
Thanks for the vote of confidence and for promoting Dell and the RED cause. Product (RED) is a brilliant initiative that allows you to be a good consumer, enjoy some of the best and hippest products on the market, and play a significant role in conquering AIDS in Africa at the same time. I’m very, very proud to be associated with such forward-thinking and globally concerned organizations as Dell, Product(RED), Mother New York and Sara Galkin who worked independently to co-ordinate everything!
It’s also been amazing to create artwork that is being presented through such new and innovative technology as that created by Pictaflex, where the image is permanently infused onto the laptop cover. It actually offers some very clever customizable options but I suspect those are only being released to the public a little later so I’ll force myself to keep quiet about them now.
I love all of the artwork that has been done under the Dell (RED) banner. Several of Mike Ming’s laptop artworks have already been released and he’s appeared at Dell sponsored concerts and the like. I love the fluidity of Mike’s work. The work of Joseph, Bruce and myself is brand new and there are more artworks to come. As an African, I respond most strongly to Joseph’s work that perfectly captures the dramatic colours and design of this incredible African continent. One of my favourite books of all time, a continual inspiration to me, is a huge tome called S,M,L,XL. It’s by Bruce Mau and Rem Koolhas. So when I discovered (only at the launch of the latest Dell laptops) that one of the other artists was the very same Bruce Mau, I went quite week at the knees!
Thanks again for the mention and for a wonderful blog. Good luck to the two of you!
Best wishes
Siobhan Gunning
PS My website should be up by the end of the week, hopefully sooner. Going to work on some more content now. Please check it out when you get the chance.
